Noise when foot off break pedal

My car is brand new and every time I take my foot off the brake pedal I hear the clunk/thumping sound.

It was like that even when I test drove a few different cars like the Q5, another RDX, X3

Why is that?

As a matter of fact my 2011 Honda Accord does that too..especially if I am driving it for the first time in a given day.

Just to be clear, it's the kinda noise you would hear after washing your car or heavy rain...but I experience it more so on my new car

I heard the same noise when I lift my foot of the brake peddle. It feels like there are two difference noises... One is the spring up of the peddle noise like it springs up to fast after the weight of the foot is lifted and the second is the noise that feel like when your car on fast idle and you hold one to the brake too lightly and it kinds of make a grinding noise... none of my other cars do that so when I bring it in for service I will ask to see if they can figure what that noise it.

It is hard to say from the description of the noise but I think it may be the surface rust that forms on the brake rotor. Deals says it is the noise he hears after washing the car or a rain and dcpc says it is a grinding noise if you apply the brakes lightly. Brake rotors naturally develop a coating of rust due to their iron content. It scrubs off quickly with use and then reforms, sometimes overnight in damp conditions. If so, it is harmless and normal.

Did the issue go away for you? I actually posted something similar several months ago - almost everytime I take my foot off the brake after a full stop I get a thud noise coming from the brake. I drive mostly in the city with lot of stop and go so this noise is really getting annoying. I might take it to the dealer this weekend just to have it checked.

I am having the same issue with my 2019 rdx tech awd. I have 1500 miles on mine. Planning to call acura today. But wanted to check if anyone got this resolved already. Below is the thread I started for this in third gen rdx forum. Any information is greatly appreciated.
