My wife's keys got locked inside....
I thought that wasn't supposed to happen.
The car was in the garage, adn she went to open the door, and it wouldn't open.
Her poccketbook with the keys inside it were in the passenger's seat.
I went and got mine, and used my clicker to open it, but now... I wonder.
How did this happen. It's not supposed to...

I had a similar experience with a 2013 mitsubishi outlander sport loaner. I turned the car on and left the key in the cupholder (also has push button start) but it locked anyways. Turned out that the keyfob had a weak battery so the car did not know it was in there. So change the battery in the fob and it “shouldn’t” happen again.

I understand the weak battery issue, but it still doesn’t explain the locking event, unless your wife tried to lock the car using the door handle button.

In my case I did not press the lock buttons either. Might just be a little glitch that occurs when the fob has low power.
