Mood Lighting

Can anyone tell me if the RDX is suppose to have front footwell mood lighting. I have a fully loaded AWD with tech and didn't see any when I was out driving last night.

If it does not, can anyone tell me a $40k luxury cross over doesn't have it but a ILX sedan, which is over $10k cheaper does?

Smarty666....As being an RDX and TL owner, I can confirm that the 2013 RDX does NOT have the foot well mood lighting....while my TL does have it.

I am surprised to hear the ILX does have it though...I just assumed the new ILX would be like the RDX and not have it.

To the moral question as WHY Acura did not include it in the RDX, your guess is as good as mine but I am a bit disappointed! I am more disapointed in the fact that the passenger seat does not have a height adjuster....that is a gripe of mine, as well as their poor USB playback integration. Don;t even get my blood boiling on that one!

^^^ as does the price of gas and why NO POLITICIANS will enable oil companies to build more refineries and increase our "useable" energy supplies. I can't see driving around with a wind turbine or solar panel on my Acura quite yet!

*rant over* (that was small one actually....like a mini burp)

Please tell me what "mood lighting" is? Sounds like something I might have wanted many years ago when my car was my "crib".

lmao, Jim

Your crib or your love nest?

You do know what we mean by the mood lighting right? The little blue LED lighting that is found in the TL that gives a nice subtle blue light in the foot area....similar to the one above the gearbox shifter

Sorry, don't understand why a blue light on my foot area is "mood light".

Regards, Jim

I think the reason for absence of mood lighting in RDX may have to do something with target audience that Acura is going for - Older people (like me)!

Whereas ILX is clearly targeted towards younger crowd.

Or double income young couples! There really is no excuse for a few things missing in this vehicle but the pluses overcome the negatives. It will be interesting to see what the 2014 model will include that the 2013 does not.

Is the lighting near the sunroof controls really mood lighting? I thought it was just some dim lighting to see interior controls at night and Acura used an off color so as to avoid drivers losing their night vision.

The tiny blue lights in our new RDX's are really a "mood type" lighting. They are not bright enough to actually shine any kind of light to see stuff.

The prevous generation Accords....new ones just out....has an accessory option for the footwell blue led lights. I put them in my '12 Coupe. They are really nice at night. I wanted the same for the CRV I had...before my RDX.....and found out that no kits were available for CRV's. BUT....guess what.....they were available on CRV's sold in England!! Now that ticked me off.

So, I too think, that an LED blue footwell lighting kit should at least be an accessory we could buy. Who knows why they do what they do. Just like the CRV's in England!!!
