Question Clunk when downshit 2 1... Normal ?

Hello,

I'd like to have your opinion. When I'm on D (and even in S mode), my transmission makes a clunk when it retracts from 2 to 1 ...

She passes her speed very well, no jolt, but the buit worries me a little.

I'm going to Acura (still under warranty 5/100) and the dealer says it's normal.

Did any other owner realize about getting noise? Is it normal.

It's not always, and not always so strong. I try to find in what conditions but it looks pretty random.

Thank you

Not sure what year you have but my 14 and 17 do not clunk under these circumstance.

Our '16 has this "feature" as well. Very rough downshifts IMHO. It is also variable in that sometimes it is fine, others not so much. Very annoying and I expect the transmission will have issues as it ages. Not planning to find out....

I hear and feel (in the accelerator or brake pedal) clunks all the time. It is particularly noticeable when taking off or when coming to a stop. It used to bother me, but I've known for a long time that honda has a history of transmission issues and I've learned to live with it and no longer worry about it.

My 2014 RDX AWD Tech has a small thump feel, not sound, when stopping at a red light from 2 to 1st. I had an 2007 TL with the same issue. I learned to ignore it, it's the crappy Honda transmission, hahahhaa. And mind you, I am the only owner and have maintained this truck meticulously, including transmission drain and refill at the dealer every 30K miles (It has 60K now). It gets slightly better for a few weeks after the transmission fluid change and then it goes back to doing it. Such is life. I own a 2015, same car AWD Tech and it does not have this problem, I think it's a 2014 issue mostly, even though someone here said their 2016 does it.

Okay, thanks for the information. I think I'm just ignoring it ... anyway I have the guarantee to extend so I'll use it if it breaks ...

Especially since they have been notified.

Thump eliminated

Good news! I eliminated the annoying “thump” from 2nd to 1st gear by installing S-VCM.

Just found the very same thing , after install of the controller. Also have noted that I don't feel the engine break, that is associated with the engine going to ecno mode...like this so far, and it's only the first day of driving with the added part.
