Locking Doors While Car is Running

Hello all, I am the proud owner, actually leaser, of a new 2015 RDX AWD (no tech package). I'm enjoying the car quite a bit but can't figure something out. I don't know how to lock the doors from the outside while the car is still running. I drop my son off at the babysitter every morning and leave the car running since it only takes a minute or so to do the dropoff but I can't lock the car once exiting it. If I press the lock button on the door handle it just beeps a bunch of times and pressing the lock button on the fob does nothing. I am coming from a Nissan Altima which also had keyless entry and keyless ignition and this was never an issue, just press the lock button on the door handle and it locked, whether the car was running or not. Am I missing something really simple? Still getting used to this car since it's only been 3 days. Thanks in advance.

Be careful, it's not possible as far as I know...AND...car can be driven without the fob. It will beep to alert you, but car can be easily stolen. They can't stop the engine, but could run it indefinitely. The acura installed remote start lets me run the engine and lock the doors and can't be driven.

Thanks for the response. I'm aware of the potential risk, just wondering if it is possible to do. I'm curious if I can lock the doors manually with the key from the outside, going to have to try this later.

As far as I know it can't be done. I wanted to do it initially when I had to heat it up in cold mornings and I was street parking, found out that the only way was to get a remote start. Now I have heated garage, so not a problem anymore.
BTW why do you want to leave the car running for that short duration? Whats the purpose apart from wasting fuel and polluting the atmosphere ..... ? Is pushing a button to start causing that much inconvenience?

Yes, if you use the key and manually lock the door it can be done.

Thanks. Tried this the other day and it worked. Only caveat is that you must use the key again to unlock the car. Fob or door handle button will not unlock.
