Intermittent deep humming noise on 2018 RDX Elite
I recently took delivery of a brand new 2018 RDX Elite and had taken it on a road trip to Chicago. After about 800kms of total mileage, I have begun to notice a deep hum that starts exactly at 55km/h and stops at 60km/h. The sound is completely dependant on speed. At first, I thought it was road noise, but the sound is the same regardless of the type of pavement (city road, highway, cement, concrete, asphalt). It starts low and builds up to a maximum loudness that is clearly noticeable at 60km/h and as the speed goes above 60, it disappears.
Did a few searches and found some MDX users mentioning something similar. Wondering if any RDX owners out there have any info on this issue and any potential fixes? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling that was the case, since this is my first vehicle with VCM. Its noticeable only if I dont have the climate control ON and the audio is OFF. And the fact it completely disappears once the speed is over 60kmh. Gonna have it checked out just incase its something fixable.

Mine is 2017 Elite, and I believe what you are experiencing is very similar to mine. My car started making the whining noise at around 55km/h and maxed out at 60km/h when the gas pedal is lightly pressed. The noise disappeared as soon as car is traveling outside that speed range.
I brought it to the dealership, and first they replaced the front differential. No change. Next they put a remanufacturered transmission(not a new transmission...wth....), and the problem seemed to have solved. But no, now the problem is worse. Once the transmission is warmed up, I'm hearing new whooshing sound between 2nd and 3rd gears, and the 60km/h noise is still there with about 2/3 of the previous noise level.
I've driven several 17-18 RDX loaners, and none of them had these issues. Very disappointed with how my RDX makes the noise, and going back to the dealership again for the problem...

I sometimes have a noise like that, but not all the time. What mine does is make a sound like a turkey gobbling. This usually occurs after a cold start within 1/4 mile of the house. I hear it when the car is idling (right at the center of the firewall) but it likely is happening while driving and getting drowned out.

Took my car into the local dealership. The tech said mine is the 4th car this month with this issue. They have reached out to the tech team for a solution and are investigating. Will keep updating as i have more info.
