Check Emissions System

2014 with 160K miles. Lots of highway driving. Yesterday evening I got this alert while driving home to Denver from Kansas City. Immediately I felt the engine struggle when accelerating. It would shake. No dealerships open on Sunday evening in KC. I decided to just get home. I did. If you are aware, the altitude goes up by 4000 feet and the car struggled whenever I had to climb even a little. I remember this with my previous car, VW Touareg. It turned out to be ignition coils with that one. I wonder what is wrong with this. It was not a fun drive.

Check for codes. If You don't have a reader, most auto parts stores will read for free. They may also suggest a fix. Worth a try.

Just did a test drive and it is back to normal. No hesitation when accelerating. The light is still on though.
Well have the code checked.

Went to Autozone and pulled codes.

P3400 Valve Pause System (VPS) stuck off Bank 1
P0138 H02S S2 High Voltage
P3400 Valve Pause System (VPS) stuck off Bank 1
P3400 Valve Pause System (VPS) stuck off Bank 1

At this time, the vehicle is running normally. The check emission system light is still on.

It appears that an oil sensor switch needs to be replaced. Google is Your friend. Here is a Youtube for a different model ,but switch will be in same location..

Thanks for the info.
The problem went away during this week's travel to Vegas. The car ran fine and didn't complain even during the steep inclines in the Rockies.

I did this and problem went away. Dealer asked for $330 for labor alone. No, thanks.
Bought two of the parts from Amazon and it was a breeze.
Thanks.
