Car running without Key fob
Hi,
I own an 2015 Acura RDX and came across this behavior with the keyless entry yesterday while returning from work. I opened the truck with the key to keep my bag. Started the run and drove off. On reaching home i couldnt find my key fob. My first thought that it might have slipped between the seats but I didn't find it while searching. I decided to start my vehicle again and to my surprise, it gave me a message that place key near to start. So it looks like I dropped the key fob or left it on top of my car and drove off in the first place from work. That raises some questions
- Will my car start if the key fob is not inside the car but close to the car like the top or on the ground next to it?
- Even if it starts shouldn't it pop up a message once I drive off and the car cannot detect the key in the car??
I am really confused what might have happened here. It's definitely not inside the car because the car won't start. Any help might help me understand and figure out where I can search for the lost key fob.

My first thought is why would you need to use your key to open the trunk is the first place? Your car has a keyless system by which your key fob doesn’t even need to leave your pocket.
I don’t know what you gain by using the key in this instance.
Secondly, why would you keep anything on top of the car at all.
Did you lose your Acura key only or lost the entire key bunch with house keys, other cars keys, office key etc??? That’ll be too bad.
Is it possible that you might have failed to notice the key missing sign lit in red throughout your return ride?
normally the car should not start if the key fob isn’t detected near the dash and inside the car.
