Access to evaporator

Does anyone have experience gaining access to the air conditioning system evaporator? My 2015 AWD Tech has had air conditioning odor issues the last few summers, typically smelling of must and mildew. I have tried every remedy suggested on the forums to no avail: new cabin filter, Kool-It cleaner, Lysol, A/C Pro Vent and Duct cleaner, .... I believe the evaporator needs direct intervention to clean it. Could use some advice on getting access and how difficult it is. Prefer the DIY approach to spending $100s at the dealership.

Are you getting a good flow of condensate under the car? A plugged up drain can cause this issue.

yep, condensate drains freely. Snaked drain tube awhile back and it had no blockages.

Well, next I wonder if the recirculation flap is working. My wife had a car that she habitually kept on recirculate and it developed a nasty mold smell.
You might try turning on the fan to high and seeing if you have suction on the outside air intake.
