2013+ warranty claims list

Thought it would be useful to have a list compiling people 2013 RDX warranty claims. Allow people to see common problems and to check things as the first 2013+s are coming into their final year of warranty.

So list yours - detail problem, dealer fix, dealer experience and km/miles.

No need to list "no problems at all" as this does not add value!

What an excellent idea Yobbo!

Only one claim - Prematrue wear of drivers seat bolster at 20,000 km. Dealer replaced it with out any arguement (in fact they voulenteered to fix it under warranty).

Potential claim - rear suspension started clunking at low temps this week @ 30,000km.

New 2015 W/tech. A few days after delivery, the dash material right in the center above the steering wheel looked like a snake under a carpet.Dealer first said live with it,so complained to the salesman, and he got a better service writer who took care of it.

A few weeks later, they corrected the off-center steering wheel that was bugging me.They got it dead-straight now.Yay!

Same time, they forgot to put the passenger side door edge film on,so they took care of that.

Same time, noticed the rubber trim around the windshield was all distorted, popping up.They replaced it.

About 3 months later, the driver's side bottom rubber trim was pulling away from the door at the top so you could see the tape. They replaced it.

I was concerned that the dash on the passenger side was a bit wavy.We checked a new one,it was the same. Was explained to that it's where the airbag comes out of,and they said it's normal.

I was irritated that the chrome trim on the driver's door up at the top didn't match up straight with the passenger's door. The dealer showed me a new MDX that was worse....so it is considered "Normal"

I have noticed that the windsheild on the passenger side has a pretty distorted, wavy view right in the middle when viewed from the driver's seat.you don't notice it sitting as a passenger. Was told it's a lamenated glass design, so live with it.It will prbably need changing in a year or two...Here in SoCal,for some reason we get a lot of cracked windsheilds.I already got two dings ( one the very first day!) so If it needs replacing,I hope the new one's better.

All of these are little niggling problems. My biggest concern was it was consuming oil a lot,but after about 2400 miles....it stopped.Hasn't had a low dipstick reading since.I was afraid that I had gotten a lemon, but now with about 9000 miles,It's getting that "Settled In" feel to it,and I like it more now.

So if it was stolen or totalled out tomorrow, would I buy the same thing all over again? Yep,I think it's just right for me.

At 19000 had rattle / clanking from rear shocks (not the 'clunking'.) Dealer replaced both.

Bumper to bumper warranty is 4 years. This model went on sale April 2012. What are you having a problem comprehending?
Or are you being a dickhead because the OP failed to differentiate between power train and bumper to bumper?

Sure, and the 2015's are coming close to the end of their warranty period too.

The basic premise of identifying chronic problems in 2013's (and other years for that matter) is a good idea but the fact that the a car is several months away from possibly being in the final year of warranty is immaterial.

You clearly have a problem with me. Why don't you just quit responding to my posts?

I'm not the only to respond to your rudeness and arrogance.
Quit being an ass and people wont call you out for being one.
Until then expect more of it.

Gee, I wonder how I got thanked 786 times? Maybe because I know what I'm talking about?

Now that you've gotten this thread off-track, let's get back to talking about chronic issues.

I've seen multiple issues with the sunglass holder on the roof console.

Had grinding brakes. Were repaired free of cost. Otherwise the car has been great.

Had the front driver side strut on my 2013 replaced at about 16K under warranty due to knocking heard and felt through the steering wheel.

"Sure, and the 2015's are coming close to the end of their warranty period too."

What does this mean? The 2015s are in year one of their BTB warranty.

Hey, the 2016's when they come out will only 4 years left on their warranty.

This thread isn't about length of warranty, it is about chronic issues.

This might help people who weren't aware of the free dealer fixes for some problems, i.e. vibration and clunking issues. I've had both and the posting of the TSBs on this site really made it easier to have the issues resolved.

Thanks

Thanks
Seeing some of the questions posted on Acurazine (and this is one of the better boards), the average consumer understands little about their rights, so a thread about what went wrong, and how it was fixed might be helpful.

You are absolutely right about the TSBs and it really wouldn't help if people posted "I had that problem too" after it was already identified as a chronic problem.

The only issue we've had the dealer fix was the auto headlights not working from the factory. The car was brand new, and I was going ABSOLUTELY CRAZY trying to figure out why they weren't working. I eventually called the salesman, and he told me to do everything I'd already tried a hundred times after scouring the manual. Turns out, there was some connector that wasn't completely attached from the factory. Supposedly, the service guys snapped it in, and then the headlights worked. My dealer says it was the first time they'd seen that problem.

I have noticed the front bumper cover isn't totally flush with the front fender on the driver's side. I haven't had the dealer look at it, but I have seen other RDXs with similar issues.

One warranty issue

I bought my 2013 non-tech, 2WD in May of 2012 and now have 25k miles. Only repair it has needed was replacing right, rear fender liner when about 4 months old. The liner had warped and pulled away from the inner fender lip and would not stay in place. A couple of others have reported the same problem.

My RDX:
- 2013 RDX
- Bought first week the second generation RDX was available.
- Currently have 49,700 miles on it.

Warranty Work:
- In early 2014, I had the drive shaft replaced, per the vibration issue discussed so well on this site, and pushed by so many of us to be fixed.
- In January 2015, had the front right strut replaced due to the "clunking" noise described well on this site.
- In January 2015, had the front breaks replaced after reporting they were squeaking. Found a TSB for this issue on this site.
- In February 2015, had the front left strut replaced for the "clunking" noise.
- In 2014, had the sun roof re-greased to fix the issue of it closing all the way to the wind-bar and then re-opening.

all cosmetic here
- rear window replaced because chrome was peeling
- rear tail lights replaced and quarters painted x2 because of paint chipping

Next trip to the dealer:
- hood and fenders painted due to hood rubbing against causing paint to chip
- rear dog leg moulding replaced due to rust
- back-up camera replaced due to crack in lens
- front seat trim cracked
- rear struts need to be replaced

My RDX:
- 2013 RDX.
- Bought in December 2012.
- Currently have 27052 miles on it.

Warranty Work:
- Paint chipped off at fuel filler cover on the inside.
- Paint chipped off at gap at right rear tail light and right rear fender.
- Left rear shock (or strut) replaced due to clunking, rattles, and tapering (sound like loose lumber) noises and vibrations in low speed, especially when going over bumps or dips. I think Acura should make a recall on this one since many RDX owners are suffering from this issue.

Here are my warranty claims:
as previously mentioned:
- new drivers seat bolster due to excessive wear @ approx 15,000 km.

Now:
- new passanger side mirror due to noise/jerky motion when tilting down when car put inreverse @ 35,000 lm
- new RHS rear shock absorber due to the infamous "clunking" issue. @ 35,000km

Of the 3 cars I have purchased new, (' 98 Nissan Sentra, '05 Subaru Outback, '13 RDX) this is the most warranty claims I have had.

The only silver lining is that the Acura dealer has done the right thing without any problem (contrast with the Subaru dealer.....).

But I still have quibbles with fit and finish that sould not be present in a premium brand.

My ac would not cool when the car was not moving.Took it in to my dealer, was low on refrigerant. It was determined I had a leaking o-ring.I hope the repair was done properly,I hate my ac system had to be opened up.So far it is cooling normal and I have nothing negative to say about my dealer.

It's not totally unusual with a new car to have some a/c system minor issues. My son took delivery of a new '14 Accord last summer and the a/c didn't work because the pressure was low. They found a loose connection, vacated/recharged the system, and it's been fine ever since.

Thanks, but I will take a new mirror for free over a squirt of WD40.
