Kinda hard to post pics cause my camera probably wont pick up the difference but there's some comparisons online. Basically, you can't tell its tint either from the inside or outside. But I know the UV protect and heat rejection is there.
I definitely don't regret this tint and recommend this to everyone. I'll probably put this stuff on all my windshields from now on.

So basically the exception is UV tint (essentially clear like the air blue 80) since factory glass is already slightly shaded. No glass is 100% VLT.

Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?
The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.
The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.
However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.

Mine are actually getting tinted today. I did some trading for a full detail and paint correction on a surburban of the shop owner. I'm gonna be using lumar 20% black tint. I have had lumar on all my vehicles and loved it. Makes a huge differance on interior heat.

I was concerned about the color of the tint too, especially since I had black/charcoal colored tint on the side and that it would look funny. It doesn't, can't even tell it's colored.
I found a shop that installed the tint for 40 (cheapest in my area) and bought the tint for under 50 shipped.

^sounds like a great deal. 90 bucks to get the front windshield done is amazing. i'm surprised that you were able to find a shop that would install film that was not purchased from them. How thick was the "blue" film. i've heard some place charging more for the labor because the film is thicker and more technical to shrink.

Yea, well this was after calling around to a bunch of places around town. The installer said he would warrant his labor for lifetime, which means almost nothing. As long as he installs it good from the beginning, it should hold up. Plus since its almost clear, there no real chance of fading.
A couple shops I called around wouldn't use my film or install on the windshield.
Couldn't find information on the thickness of the film but my installer did not mention he had any diffculties.
