What's the coolest feature you had in a car?

All this talk about the "Auto-Up" window in the new TL reminds me of my wifes 94 Eagle Vision. I had the dealer instal a Hollandia sunroof to make the sale. It was tied into the door locks. When you got out and locked the car the sunroof closed. Whether vented or wide open.

I loved it. I used to stand there and make sure it did it. But then I got comfortable. The next car had no such trick. So I spent a lot of time walking back, putting the key in, powering up, and closing the sunroof.

The POWER closing doors in my Gen II Legend Coupe.

For those unaware, when you closed the door you only need to move the door to within about 1 inch of the latch.
Then the motor took over and “pulled” the door closed.

I know it sounds stupid, but it was COOL.

yeh i agree with nova, i had heads up display in my 89 maxima too, dash was digital and it was soo awesome.

i love the auto lights off and auto door locks on the cl-s too.

i loved my kick ass set up of my cd changer in my 87 blazer that it was placed in the middle compartment inbetween the front seats.

my 98 maxima had fogs u can turn on and off, wish the cl-s had that, my new fogs are always on with the headlights

NAVI -- the voice really does it (just give me a voice recognition system in addition)

5sp SS trans -- I wouldn't buy any auto without an SS and at least 5 speed (good 1st, 2nd, & 3rd)

Auto dimming mirror -- what a joy for ignoring high-beamed, 4x4 driving, tailgating morons on the freeway.

6 sp SS would be way cooler, Imagine shifting to "real" 4th and still pulling hard like a bad as mofo upto 140+.

That would be the cure for the dead 110-140 range. Also, if Acura is concerened about the EP MPG numbers, why not, let us have a "double upshift" 3-5 at low rpms amd here you go we get the stealthy "4" magic that japs hate!

Yep, after my 4-speed auto Maxima, I was just happy to have a low ratio 1st gear. If they would just add the 6th cog, and tighten up 3-4-5, I'd be thrilled.

And yeah, I'd like to be able to "double-pump" the SS to get between gears (I would do stuff like that in my manuals -- worked great). The Maxima had a rocker switch to select between FAST - AUTO - SLOW modes. The Acura SS should have a switch that would allow for sedate shifts on the SLOW setting and for clutch snapping/redline topping shifts in FAST.

I know 4th isn't as fast as 3rd, but I shifted out of 3rd at about 113 and the trip to 130 was very, very quick.

Maybe its the super light allow wheels or maybe I had a tail wind, but it moved from 110 to 130 so fast, that a trailing nemesis was dispatched.

Auto-recirc in my LS400. A cool gadget that eliminates the need to hit the recirc button after the fresh air smells like ass. A big plus when commuting in the New York Metro area.

The auto-door lock on the new MB C class. When you hit 9 mph it automatically locks the door. I forget to lock the door when I'm driving and I'll remember 'bout five miles up the road...I love that feature...'course when I had my Viper alarm it would lock the door when you turned the ignition on, and unlock them when you turned the car off....LLLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEDDDD IT!

They sell little devices that can be interfaced with the stock system. They are made for the windows and will roll up the windows when the alarm is armed. I am sure you can tapp the sunroof into this device.
I've seen them in a little book called TRC(the Right Connection) Kinda looks like the T.V. Guide, but they sell nothing but stuff for car/sterio installers.

As for the best feature I've had...... I'd have to say POWER WINDOWS. I have never had power windows in the 2 other vehicles I have had. GOD I love them.

My Clifford Alarm with smart windows package would allow for one touch up and down on both windows, and sunroof.

It was also really nice to be able to roll down the windows and open the sunroof from the remote, giving the car a chance to release the heat from sitting in the Florida sun all day.

I take everything for granted... all the new CL-S stuff but I miss my 98 Maxima SE 5Spd with the autowindow down feature on the remote. When you walk outside and it's 90degrees and you want your car to be a little bit cooler when you get there, just hold down the unlock button and all the windows would go down. Unfortunately, they would not go up but down was a good feature. BMW's 740's all go down and open the sunroof and close them as well with the lock/unlock button.

Now, I'm so used to heated seats, heated mirrors, auto dimming rear view, and all the other stuff, I'm now spoiled.

I just came from Japan. I had a 1999 honda Inspire it had auto up wimdows, which were cool but i liked the auto folding side mirrors. I quess you don't need that as much here put in japan you have to fold in your mirrors if you don't want them scratched.

On the cl-s I love the Auto headlights and the auto dimming mirror and the sport shift and the butt warmers and the windsheild wiper speed thingy and the........

Before I decided on my CL-S I test-drove a 2000 Cadillac Catera. It had a button on the dash that activated some kind of scissor-action mechanism that raised an inside sun screen over the rear window...very cool!
