Stage 2 clutch? 2003 CLS 6mt

Exedy seems to only have an OEM replacement. I was wondering what other brands would have a reliable stage 2 clutch kit for my car? Any help is appreciated

Any reason why you wouldn't just use an OEM style clutch? Unless you have some sort of forced induction, a Stage 2 clutch kit won't really bring any benefit to your car.

XLR8 has a 'Daily', 'Strip', or 'Drag' clutch set-up. I believe the 'Daily' is considered stage 2; however, I'm not sure. If you don't want the LW flywheel, they sell only the clutch and pressure plate to keep costs reasonable.

This. Even with most forced induction the stock clutch is generally fine. Going with a Stage 2 is going to make your car more of a pain to drive and it won't be nearly as smooth. Unless you have a real genuine need, don't do it.

Why not wait until that point then? Let's be honest, maybe 1 in 10,000 kids that say or plan on supercharging actually do. You might think you will now, but you most likely won't.

Even if you do (and good luck finding one these days as no one sells new kits) it's still highly unlikely you'll be making enough power to require a State 2 clutch. The vast majority of those that have gone supercharged with the CL have stuck with the stock clutch without issue. Even if you plan on adding bolt-ons to it you're still unlikely to make enough power to require a Stage 2.

It just seems silly to spend $1,400 right now on something you will most likely never need.

Don't listen to TheWeez, he's full of shit. That number is 0 in 10,000 kids.

Just kidding, but he's right in that you won't need a Stage 2 even if you get a supercharger.

I have a supercharger and the stock clutch that is 5 years old is good enough. No slips, grinds or pops. I don't push it often though and have only been supercharged for 2 years or so.

You guys have some valid input here. I think im just going to stick to the Exedy OEM clutch kit since it seems that these cars were built to hold up well to a lot of power completely stock. It's just that in all honestly the car takes a beating so I was looking for something that would hold up better for the long run. Thanks everyone

How much are you paying for the Exedy kit?

Rockauto has the LUK 08047 clutch kit (this is the same kit made for Acura/Honda) for $170.99 before shipping. Search for their online coupon and get an additional 5% off.

More Information for LUK 08047

OMG, here is an example of the Exedy OEM kit for the CL-S6 and it is almost $400.

You look at the picture on the Exedy website and that IS the LUK 08047.

Zeta, it's not the same. Can't you see that it has Exedy lube!

There's no one else who makes the stupid self adjusting clutch for our cars. If that picture is what you get, then they are just re-branding the OEM LUK kit and marking it up. Shame on them.

What is your guy's opinion on the flywheel? Can it be resurfaced or should it be replaced and if so, what is a good option for the price?
