Smoked/ Blacked-Out Headlights

I've got a black 3.2 Type S.

I'm thinking of getting the e-bay headlight & Taillight tinting kit to give the car the smoked look. I only want to smoke the front lights and leave back red because I love the way the back light looks.

Has anyone done smoked lights or tinted their headlights? If so how did it come out?

Here is the kit i'm talking about:

Why would you want to cut down your light output like that? Sounds stupid to me..

EDIT: If anything, get some 03 headlights.. I'll all for the blacked out look, but the headlights should stay clear.

I'd get ticketed for that in a heartbeat. Cops are tough here on anything covering lights & plates.

^ really??
but i went to Florida few weeks ago, i thought cops are very nice there because none of the cars have front license plate, people drive with neon light under car, etc.

But i went to Tampa, FL, so there might be a different.

Dont use window tint ie ebay prefab crap...

Dude I ordered that same kit off ebay for a TL I had. I put it on and yeah it looked ok i guess and im by no means a pro tinter but its kind of a pain in the arss to get it perfect (BUBBLES) and besides ... window tint on tail lights come on!!! If you want to black em out get it done right. Send them off to get pro-styled . just google "tinting tail lights" and find someone who'll paint em for you. It looks much cleaner and you have more options to choose from. i.e. the cut outs you want. seriously dude, leave the bs on ebay alone.

I was thinking about tinting my headlights and taillights but I don't like the look of the blacked out headlights. So I'm just tinting the taillights and maybe the front turn signals with VHT Nite Shades that is a spray and is much better than film

That does look cool on the black car but it still doesn’t look right IMO. It will mess with visibility/headlight brightness at night so I wouldn’t consider it. If you cause an accident or are in an accident you can also be deemed at fault because the other guy can say he couldn’t see you because your headlights are illegally tinted regardless of what the actual light output is. That’s how it could easily go down in a court room anyway. That is why there is a law against not having DOT approved lights. That’s how it is here. It’s the same if you get rear ended at night and you have tinted tails. Just not worth it IMO. I would not do this people but to each his own.

Enough said........ you have changed me mind! lol
THANKS!
BTW... I wasn't wanting to tint the tail lights... i like my tail lights, just the head light, But I do see your point!

tinted lights (for the most part) look tacky.
I've seen a bunch in person in and i'm just not a fan.

im wanting to smoke mine out in the front, and smoke the red out in the rear.
if done properly, i think its a nice mod, plus im getting 55w kit for the front, so light output will not be an issue

i think smoking the front is stupid IMHO because u are just killing the light output of the xenon lights and I dunno bout u but the brighter.. the better.

now I did black out my fog lights which is very sexy i must say... and the bigg black grill.. and I want the fronts to be darker... since I have an 01. but if i did i'd get the cl 03 headlights.. that's the way to go i think.

my friend just smoked his lights out and i dont like it. the car comes stock with such nice, bright lights that already makes your headlights look better than half the cars on the road. no need to smoke them, unless you plan to completely black out your car cause that would be a different story
