RL caliper guys, please chime in *problem*
Tried sending this directly to Paul, but I don't have at least 15 post on so I can't send PM's. Here is my issue:
I am using 05 brembo 350z rotors and 2007 TL wheels (split 5 spokes) 17x8 45 offset just like the 04-06 tl wheels, and Paul's brackets. I had to trim the ends of the studs to clear the inside of the wheel. When I was all done, lowered the car off the jack and tightened the lugs and tried to move the car, there was a holdup. The top of the caliper was grinding/rubbing against the inside of the wheel. To fix this (the only way I found possible, I removed the washer on the bottom of the studs (caliper side and ground down the 2 tabs on each side of the caliper that seat to the bracket right around where the washer sat. They now clear, just barely, but enough. However, now the caliper sits flush to the bracket since there is no more tabs on the caliper or washer in between. Is this ok? Please respond asap as I am going to be doing the other side tomorrow.

Please rephrase, I don't understand what you're saying. And Yes I already shaved one side of the caliper tabs so the caliper is sitting flush with the bracket. Even if I removed the washer in between the bracket and caliper, it was still hitting the inside of my 07 base TL wheel!! I really had no other choice. I don't understand how this will be a problem
Check post #334 in this thread. I grinded those tabs on the bottom of the calipers down flush. Didn't touch the brackets

sorry i was about to go to bed. You shaved those tabs??? You arenot supposed to.. You didn't read that thread page you just posted?
Those nuts are flange nuts, but would tear up the top of the caliper, the washer lets the nut spin on the surface of the washer without digging into the aluminum, they also help to keep the tourqe.
no no man. Don't shve it down. when you initally tightening down the caliper you just make sure it crushes into the brack, the bracket is purposely about 1/8"(I think) wider than the tits on the bottom of the caliper, this will make for a very tight and secure fit when crushed in. I asked Paul about this before i installed mine. I hope you didn't shve.
DO NOT SHAVE THE BRACKET ITSELF!
Its made slightly oversized so when you tighten down the caliper it crushes a bit of the bracket and creates a very snug fit.

Ok so there are supposed to be TWO washers on top of the caliper. The flange nut and a washer under the flange nut? The person in that thread is asking about shaving down the BRACKET. Again I did NOT grind down the bracket, I gound down the tabs. Don't see how thats different than just torquing the caliper down into the bracket like you are saying

Duh! I misunderstood. you shaved tabs on caliper.
yes
1. put bracket on the knuckle
2. put those long studs into the bracket
3. put rotors.
4. slide caliper into those long studs
5. put washers
6. put flange nuts and tighten down those nuts till caliper crush into the bracket.
7. install pads
Honestly, I'm not sure if there is big difference w/tabs or w/o.

Got it, i'll do that for the other side. It would really help if Paul included instructions with the brackets because it's not exactly common sense to crush the caliper into the bracket lol.. Thanks anthracite, you've been a big help
