Recommended Brands For Suspension Replacement?

I need to replace the front upper and lower control arms and struts on my daughter’s 2001 CL Type S. I was looking on Rockauto and saw there are quite a few brands that I’ve never heard of. I’m looking for OEM quality (or close to it) at an economical price. I assume the lowest cost ones on there are no good, but what about the mid priced brands? I was thinking Moog...are they any good?

Also, since it’s a Type S which has the sportier suspension, why can’t I find the quick struts that are Type S specific? I’ve seen some that say fits all models, including Accords...? Does it matter if I don’t get Type S specific struts/springs? I have a spring compressor but I wanted to get the fully assembled ones for convenience and I think the upper strut bushing/cushion is worn...

FYI, my daugther is 16 and does not have her license yet so this is her first car. I am spending my free time in the garage addressing issues. Ive been working on it for about a month now and it’s starting to look and run great. I need to keep the costs low for financial reasons.

Anyone tried these cheap eBay complete kits?...

To say the least, that ebay kit seems to have almost everything you need to refresh the front suspension outside of the struts.

I located the contact info for partsw-inc on the link below. Maybe call them up and try to get an idea of what kind of components the kit includes.

Not sure how you feel about using Chinese parts; however, that's usually how these vendors keep 'kit costs', such as this, low. It would, though, cover pretty much all the parts to get your job done in one order.:)

P.S.
I used moog inner/outer LCA bushes in the past and they cracked in about a year. Went back to the rubber OEM's, IIRC'ly are KYB, and have had no problems.

Think we've seen a few issues here with the cheap control arms from eBay in the past. May want to go with a name-brand from Amazon or the local parts store for those. Moog is good and people frequently use their parts when replacing CL-S suspension. I used their swaybar links a year or two ago and have had no issues.

Ive went through a few sets of upper control arms on the cl's.. the beck/ arnley ones have lasted the longest for the money off rockauto.. the mevotechs and the cheaper of the two moog's the upper ball joint looked bad after only a few months lowered only 1.5 inches..

Just want to say that I bought MOOG front upper control arms with the non-serviceable ball joints and one of the ball joints stripped out upon install. More than likely from carelessness of the person installing them, though. Other than that, its been over a year and a half with no issues and they made a huge drivability difference.

I went with the AC Delco UCA’s from Rock Auto and Moog Lower ball joints. I also got some KYB Struts and KYB spring cushion spacers. I’ll source some front sway bar end links locally as well...

I’ll be installing everything Weds...
