Purolator PureOne PL14459 oil filter or Honda Stock oil filter?
Guys,
I am switching to synthetic oil soon and after doing a search on oil filter, I am still not sure which filter mentioned in the subject field is better? Purolator PureOne PL14459 oil filter or Honda Stock oil filter?
I remember reading some time ago in a post by one of the members either here or @ atl.com about stock oem filter choking up after 4000 miles and we should use oil filters that are designed for synthetic oil. Is that true?
Thanks a lot.

Here's some more info and fun reading.
good info on Honda Filters: I donated the Amsoil filter for Todd's analysis.
http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml
great tests spec on syn oil, note syn oil is very very good and this is just comparing what "grade of diamond" your trying to purchase;
http://www.unofficialbmw.com/all/misc/all_oilfaq.html
Here's some data that questions the fact that some syn's are now mixed with petro oil to lower cost.
http://www.1st-in-synthetics.com/newsletter_1000.htm
I use amsoil + their filter, I change every 10k. Oil analysis has shown I "could" keep in in there for 20k by just changing the filter. In the next 10 years we all will be doing this.
Also check out Chod's freq asked Questions under oil, a NASA engineer has some very good tests results to share.

Mobil 1 with Purolator PureOne PL14459 oil filter, next time I would be starting on the new Mobil 1 with SuperSyn with the same filter ($4.77/ Qrt compared to $3.57/Qrt for the old Mobil 1)

I used the PL14459 filter during 3500mi to ~7500mi.
But I'm back to stock honda filters because my local lube shop
has them for cheap.
PL14459 also matches any sexy Aegean or Monterey Blue well
in color.

Here's part of what that guy found:
...Internally it's *almost* identical to the JDM filter- steel end caps, steel bypass valve. What makes it stand out as different is the radically different filter media. The material on the Japanese filter looked like the STP or Bosch units. The US media looks much, much worse than the Fram. The media is noticeably "fuzzy" with small fibers protruding out from every angle. While the filter itself is constructed very well (like the Japanese one), the furry nature of the media makes me question how long it lasts and what it will release into the oil system. It also has the least surface area of all the Honda filters (though only a few inches less than the Canadian one).
