Purge Solenoid Valve and Gas Mileage
Here is the dilemma, my purge solenoid valve is ticking like crazy. I can put my finger on it and feel it. Took it to acura they said everything was normal. I ahve also been consistently getting 2 mpg less. Some other changes are the icebox, exhaust, and yoko avid v4s. I think my driving habits are similar as before all these changes, but I can't be for sure.
Long and short, is the Purge Valve causing the reduced gas mileage?

So, someone tell me this... When you guys say it's "clicking", exactly how bad is it clicking. I mean, I never, ever notice mine unless my hood is up and the motor is running. Only THEN to I hear it clicking. Is THAT normal? Or should it be silent?

When I am parking in the garage or between two cars the clicking sound is much more apparent. Otherwise, I kinda have to listen for it. Also, if I touch the solenoid valve I can feel the ticking that corresponds with the sound.
I could get past the clicking, it is just the gas mileage that is bothering me.

I've started using acuraparts247.com for parts instead of acuraautomotiveparts.org
Usually their prices are slightly cheaper, they ship just as fast if not faster, and most importantly they provide actual Honda part numbers on their website instead of the internal stocking numbers that you see on acuraautomotiveparts.org.

Nevermind I found it and most of the troubleshooting requires the Honda PGM tester. Although I suppose a standard OBDII scan tool would suffice.
It starts on page 11-222 if anyone cares.

Cool! We should have an online parts/accessories store sticky thread. I can never remember them all. I try to bookmark them but I've already got one helluva long list in there.
Everytime someone buys from a good place online, they could post the website and let other members in on it too.

Also, If you notice acuraparts247.com is about $1-2 more on the part in this case. However, their handling charge is only $3 compared to $5 for acuraautomotiveparts.org.
I've used both before and usually cross shop between the two to see who's cheaper on any given part because it isn't consistent that one is cheaper than the other.

I remember ordering something previously that was like $10 and the order was processed but I received an email the next day that said the canceled it and it would be cheaper for me to purchase it at my local dealership because I wouldn't have to pay shipping and handling.

Since we've got everything pretty much figured out here... Sorry to be off subject but doesn't everyone pay about $80-$90 for and '03 grille surround? This place has them for $36!

I think it's usually around $40-45. I have a local parts hook-up at the local dealership and that's where I bought mine. I usually pay wholesale on parts here.

So I was digging around under the hood, trying to figure out what is going on. I had a friend of mine start the car, heat up to normal operating temp, and give the car some gas. I noticed the IMRC wasn't moving...looks like it is not working. could it be causing the low gas mileage?

Similiar minor ticking here. Did you replace yours and did it do away with the ticking?
