Performance Chip for 01 CL Type S
Are there any good chips made specifically for Acuras? I cant find anything for my car that isnt generic and supposedly made for all vehicles

I have a full reprogramming chip in my pick-up truck (Ford Diesel) and it made all the difference in the world for how that truck runs - very very noticable. I have piggy-back chips in two of my motorcycles (1 Harley twin-cam and 1 Sportster) and they too make a very very noticable difference in performance.
There is nothing inherently wrong with piggy-back chips. Though many of them don't do much more than richen up the mixture by misreporting inlet air temperature the still do work, and of course if you don't like it you can always take it back out.
Anyway, I ran across one this chip for an '01 CL Type-S this morning while I was looking for a good wallpaper picture of a silver CL. See what you think:

the ECU is not even remotely tuned to max performance from the factory ... its tuned very conservatively for reliability and some performance ... by no means is it maxed

Whats up with RDX owners?

There was never a chip for the 6MT.

It is always funny when you bring this up with people who have no experience with our car. Everyone says "oh it will be so easy to tune, my guy can do it no problem." People assume all cars are the exact same and all have aftermarket support.

It is possible but will take work and alot of money. It is made for the auto engine/harness so you need to swap sensors, cluster and not sure what else. Someone is in the process of doing it but they are keeping secret bout it.

1) Past ~8k rpm youll start to drop valves
2) I dont think the crank bearings can handle that engine speed
3) Look at a dyno, you're not making any power past 7k. Most Js dont make power past 6500rpm.
As far as tuning, there are piggy backs that prove to be a pain in the ass, and there are stand alones that take a lot of money and time to get running properly.

playing with the ecu is probably my biggest fear just because so much can likely go wrong..
i would have done it long ago but there's just not enough success stories to make me wanna jump the hurdle.
i just am happy the stock ecu on our cars is decently tuned in comparison to north american cars where a tuner can get you 20-30whp just by pressing some buttons.
i wish it were that easy

There are a few issues:
1) Past ~8k rpm youll start to drop valves
2) I dont think the crank bearings can handle that engine speed
3) Look at a dyno, you're not making any power past 7k. Most Js dont make power past 6500rpm.

plus i keep hearing the ecu over rides piggy backs after awhile, people have posted good gains with piggy backs but i would like to see the dynos two weeks after the tune to make sure the ecu didnt correct the changes made by the piggy back
