P2R Road Racing Accord J32A2 Project
Just thought i would share our current build for 2009 with you guys. Basically a 2000 Accord Coupe with a J32A2 engine.
The car is being built to race in a local series called FARA. In a class called MP-2 which allows up to 3.49 liter engines. Plans are to race the full 2009 season and win the championship. We will also be racing the car in a local group called ER autoX series. The car will be setup for road racing; however, we will race in the AutoX series also, and try to win the XP (X Prepared class) championship.
We will keep updating you guys with pictures as we go along. Here are a few details on the engine.
J32A2 Engine
6 Speed Tranny with LSD from 2006 Acura TL
Custom 3.4 liter setup.
12.5:1 compression
Current weight of the car is 2,062. We are planning for the car to weigh in at about 2,300 lbs when complete. Sitting in the car currently is a stock J32A2 which will be replaced with the built 3.4 engine after the car goes to paint.
You cant tell from the pictures, but even the sunroof is made out of lexan. We have the windows just about finished, however, they will not bolt onto the car until after it paints also.
Welding in the Cage.
Basics of the cage mostly completed.

This is the link to FARA
http://www.farausa.com/aspxhome.aspx
Its a local series completely seperate from NASA & SCCA. We will most likely race in some NASA Time Trials also; however, that will be based on budget and once it dosent conflict with any of our FARA races.
We are not running Motons . We dont have that kind of money yet. We are running a special Koni setup.
Thanks for all the comments. I will try and post up some more pictures by monday. I will post some pictures of the suspension once it shows up. And i will also post up some pictures of the engine bay soon.

That thing is sweet...i am definitely excited beyond belief to see that thing compete. My father and uncle compete in the FARA series down here in miami as well. We have the yellow tube chassis oldsmobile car. Cant wait to see it out there!!

That looks like a mean setup. With that weight and that hp you're looking at a great car to throw around the course plus road racing. What type of tires are you guys planning on running?

We are planning to test the car on BF Goodrich R1 tires to start off.
As we finish parts for the engine, i will post up pictures.
We are using the J32A2 crank and we will be offset grinding to slightly increase the stroke.

R1's aren't bad, are you guys going to corner balance that thing? It would benefit that car tremendously at that weight. It really helped my MR-S too. Your setup looks good, i'm definitely looking forward to this build.

Go to westend alignment, talk to Darrin. He does a fantastic job of corner balancing and alignment. Make sure you have coilovers, sway bars, and adjustable end links and you're set. He did my alignment and I can't thank him enough.
