New W/03 CL Type S 6MT Upstate NY
Just flew down to South Carolina to pick up the CL. What a story. Just say the ride home was anything but smooth. Buying a car sight unseen aside from pics and driving 925 miles home is bound to be interesting. As I learn about the car, I find out what it needs to get back to my standards. Of course I have some questions along the way. Loving the car, should have bought one when we test drove it new in 03.
I have a Carfax, which lists a bunch of work done. Is there a way to find out from Acura if the timing belt was done? At 101k miles, it says Recommended maintenance performed by Acura of Augusta. Not sure if that includes this or not.

Second question has to do with these two missing vacuum lines. No idea where they are supposed to go. The lower one is by the EGR, the upper one goes towards the firewall and down, I thought to the throttle body. I have already ordered the proper coil cover, not sure what happened to the Type S one.

Hi there. Since you're asking some technical questions specific to your CL and not general introduction stuff, I'm going to bump this thread over to CL-land so you can hopefully get the right eyeballs on it.
Welcome and happy motoring!

Thanks. I tried to delete the technical stuff after I read the intro rules, and also read that after 15 minutes I could not edit the post.. Sorry.

No problem, that's one of the "features" of the site that can be frustrating at times. I think we all run into it from time to time.
Hopefully you'll get better responses here anyway. Good luck!

I had that same lingo on my carfax when I bought mine. Recommended maintenance work performed or something like that. I called the Acura dealer where the original owner bought and had the car serviced. They emailed me all the maintenance work that they had done, much more specific than the carfax.

Thanks for the info.. I wasn't sure if they would give out that information to some stranger. Of course, I would want the personal information stripped. I will call and see if they will assist.

Nope, timing belt not done. Soon I will order the parts for that. I can still drive the Del Sol, and park this one for a while. I replaced front rotors and pads last night,, what a difference in braking. No more shaking like a fiend. Got some engine plastics from a junkyard in Washington State that a friend pulled, now to get those shipped out to me. Ordering the battery box, since mine is missing. I am trying to find performance parts, and it seems like I'm late to the party. Nobody seems to make much anymore, which is a shame since these are such great cars. IMHO.

Ordered the timing belt parts, battery box, and more odds and ends.. I've already spent $1500 and still need to do the struts. Not that I'm complaining,, these cars rock. I was considering an RSX since they are newer, but there is something about torque that I love. Dan at Acurapartsforless.com totally rocks, I should have him on speed dial.

I'm sure you have clearing those headlights on your to-do list! The interior has the same silver dash trim stick-on stuff my car had initially. I've slowly been putting it back to stock because removing that stuff left a residue I couldn't get off.

Oh yes,, I have plans for those headlights. Unfortunately, my buffer is at my house in Virginia. I couldn't bring everything I needed to up here right away. I keep finding things I need, like brake spreader, scanner, etc.. I will slowly (like you) be removing that silver crap from the interior.. Have you tried Goo gone for the sticky stuff? I'm not sure what to use. I don't want to try something only to see it damages the surfaces underneath.

I paid $3900. It's got 156k miles on it, runs and drives fantastic. I think if I had bought the new one like we were going to, I'd still have it.
