Nav screen size/nav in non nav 01-03 CL-S

I am giving up my 97 3.0 CL and looking for a gen2. I have a 7" Kenwood NAV/DVD player in my 97 that I love and want to put in the new car. I'd like to get a non NAV & get the NAV upper dash and put the Kenwood up there. I searched everywhere and can't find what size the screen is in the NAV cars nor what that upper dash costs.

Among the reasons I want to keep my NAV is (not in order) it already has all my locations programmed, it is HDD based so no disks needed, it plays DVDs while moving (I know bad idea) I like the Garmin NAV and am not a fan of Fujitsu NAV, I don't want the AC running through the screen.

Also I am painfully familiar with the transmission issues (I paid 1400 to rebuild the 97's when it failed at 32k and got back 1200 from Acura after I sued them) Are the symptoms similar in the gen 2 autos when they fail?

Thanks

Did you read my post? See my questions? I am asking what size the screen is how is that a personal affront to you?

Why bother posting when obviously helping is not your intent?

Here is the answer to YOUR question quoted for YOUR convenience.

I like the position of the NAV in the upper location is why I don't just put it in the stock location.

Thanks for your support.

Thanks, good to know it fits. What did you pay for the upper dash? Did you get it at a wrecking yard or from a dealer?

Did you do a write up or photoshoot thread? I'd love to see it.

Thanks.

(I really did search before I posted, both the faq & using advanced search)

do you happen to know the exact dimensions of the hole though? i was looking at different sized screens, and a lot of them don't say if they're double din or not.

PS. GREAT THREAD i was about to make one myself

Mine is a Kenwood DDX 7019. It is a double din that fit in my Landcruiser and in the stock radio location of my 97 3.0CL.

The screen is 7" but the actual outside dimension is a bit bigger. It is standard DD.

Here is a picture of it in my Land Cruiser:

By wading through LIPPSTUH's posts I found this threead. The Alpine W-205 is a 6.5" screen & from what I have found is a 7" wide unit. I still think mu Kenwood will fit.

Yup, further proof I can search, lol.

I doubt any stereo shop can do it like you did & I KNOW I can't. (I am retarded when it comes to that type of thing)
Thanks.

What about from the other angle? Has anyone modded a NAV car so the AC controls that are on the NAV screen can be routed to the knobs?

There are a lot of NAV cars on CL and eBay around here right now. What are the thoughts about an '01 CL S with an 05 transmission in nice condition but with 165k for 8k? (all maintainence done)

Keep in mind you're going to need to find a place to mount the non-nav ac controls since the navi unit controlled the ac.

I know, that's partly why I bought that TL upper dash. I have the controls coming.

Is it allowed to post eBay links for closed auctions? The car I am hoping to get is in an auction that did not meet the reserve.

I'd love to. Unfortunately they are 14-17k in decent condition and my budget for this car is 10k.

You're asking for trouble. You'll spend $3-4k for a new transmission down the line.

It has a new transmission, validated by Acura with a year left on it's own warranty. It has almost 30k on it and seems solid.

I had my 97 3.0's transmission rebuilt for 1400.00 in 2000 or so. Flawless since.

Other than the transmission does this seem like a good deal? I ran the Carfax and it is clean and the mileage is consistent.

Thanks

Here is an update on this. The solution is so simple I am kicking myself for taking so long to see it.

I bought this double din kit:

And I am going to move the stock LCD to where the radio was and put my Kenwood DDX 7019 in the stock location.
