My CL

Just wanted to share some pics... been stalking this site since it was acura-cl.com and never posted before. Car is now tinted... despite being 14 years old, it's still very modern and holds its own amongst newer cars. Recently sold my benz E coupe and decided to keep the Acura as I just moved to Manhattan and couldn't justify an 800/month car payment. Hoping she lasts me for many years to come! As far as coupes go, it's still one of the best out there in my opinion. Hoping more people start realizing the same so that this forum can have more activity! What's crazy is that growing up I always dreamt of owning of these and never did, so I decided to get one 3 years ago for shits and giggles. Don't ever plan on selling her.

Those are the ones I'm leaning towards. Your ride looks very clean.. Which Enkei wheels do you have?

I currently have the car a bit lowered on tein springs, do you think 19s would be a good fit as well? Perhaps with the city driving 18s would be best.

Also, the offset on the m52 enkeis is +45, does that male a significant difference?

I have the Enkei Raijins. I'm lowered on Eibach springs with Koni Yellows.

idk if I would do 19's. too little tire for my liking.

i believe our stock offset is +55, so anything from +40 - 50mm is pretty safe and will provide more of a flush look. I rub slightly in the rear but I just need to roll my rear fenders.

I love the 04-08 TL wheels on our cars too. 17x8 w/ 50mm offset

18x8 +35. I've had 19s and the ride was too tough for me.

I think 18s are perfect thanks guys... love the lip kit gnuts.. Where did you get it? I think for now I'll leave the car as is (wheels aside) with the exception of a new radio and speakers, perhaps sirius xm.

So this is the final setup i decided to go with and i wanted your thoughts on the tires... tire rack recommends these dimensions, thoughts? I am currently running the car lowered on tein springs and wanted to ensure it doesnt rub with these tire specs.

Thumbs up

After some research, I think I'm going with a similar setup as Adam Kovach. It's weird how the black Enkei Raijin's have a 45mm offset and the hyper silver have 40mm. 235/40r 18 should ride well, my only concern is rubbing which I definitely want to avoid. No one really rides in the back anyway (aside from my young nieces if I'm babysitting. Let's see how they sit! Stay tuned... Ordering shortly and will post pics after mounted.

I was fine when i had Nankand AS-1 235/40r18, but I switched to Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 235/40r18 and the Goodyears are wwwaayyyyy wider than Nankangs even though they are supposedly the same width.

Nothing against the Nankangs, they performed admirably for being a $70 tire, I wouldn't hesitate to run them on my daily.

Funny but as I was checking out i noticed the enkei tm7's 18x8 in gloss black and fell in love with them. Decided to go with those at the last minute to be a little different. Got those with a set of Pirelli pzero rosso 235/40/18. I'm praying they don't rub with the 45mm offset!!!!

So unfortunately they rear is rubbing a bit with this setup... had to order Megan racing coilovers so I can properly raise the car and prevent rubbing on the rear quarters. Such a bummer!

My dad owns an autobody shop so it would've actually not cost me anything to roll the fenders... I'm just too much of a perfectionist I guess. Don't plan on selling this car for a very long time so I'd rather do it right

It's just a metal lip. I was nervous too before I did mine, but it doesn't make any visual difference and doesn't make the car imperfect.

Suspension goes on this week... since switching to this as my primary car i had to do several other things as I had the car sitting on and off for over a year. Most of these parts had to be replaced due to corrosion:

-gas tank
-fuel lines
-brake lines
-front pads and rotors

case in point: never leave these cars sitting for too long as they can easily start corroding. We sprayed undercoating on the undercarriage so that should prevent this from happening again for the time being.

New wheels on, Megan Racing street coilovers on, and still rubbing! Car sits like a monster truck currently and it's still rubbing when I drive over certain potholes... at this point I might just have to roll the fenders and quarter panels. For those who have done it, how easy/difficult was it? Getting so frustrated with the ride at the moment.

Does your dad's shop roll fenders? Many rim & tire shops will roll your fenders. It's super easy. They hook up the roller and slightly heat up the area with a heat gun. YouTube it, I'm sure there's many videos. Also on our cars, the rear bumper tabs is usually where it rubs first. This is the metal tab that sticks out that holds the rear bumper on. There's some extra material that can be shaved off with a Dremel. Do that first.

Thanks for the suggestion gnuts, didn't even realize what yoh mentioned about the rear bumper. They do roll fenders; going to leave it with him next week and drive the car as little as possible in the meantime. By doing so i also hope to be able to lower it a bit more so it doesn't sit like a monster truck.

thanks.. I personally like the blue and black combo so I stuck with it when deciding on wheels.
