My Anti-drug
Last night I had my first free time since the beginning of the summer(!), and instead of , I went for a drive on some unexplored roads.
Anyone ever just drive for the hell of it?

I was just driving and I saw the backroads I've never driven through and thought "Huh... I want to check it out."
Ended up driving through 2 cities through the backroad farmland area, and you know what? I loved it. Windows down, moon roof pulled back, and just enjoying the road.

When I was in high school Id like to go out for drives just to get out - and look for races.
Even the first year or two after getting the CL Id just drive aimlessly around town. Sometimes 2-300 miles in a night. But driving so much for work took its toll on me and now I dont want to sit behind the wheel of a car if I dont have to

I Wanna Beer
Use to go on random drives years ago. Don't anymore. I'll go on a walk if I wanna get out and have nowhere in mind to go. Gas isn't an issue though. Only drive about 6000 miles a year. A tank lasts more than a month.

Not when 93 costs $3.95. And I actually have hated driving the last few years. Too many morons on the roads here & people that run lights & stops signs & pull out in front of you.
If I can avoid driving these days I will.
I suppose if I lived elsewhere when there are back roads with scenery, I may feel different. Boring flat roads with traffic is all I have.

I used to take my Trans Am for aimless drives all the time, but I've been driving into town for the last 12 years and driving is more of a task/chore than anything else now. I still take the long way home sometimes if I'm rocking out to music or want to take a scenic way home. But I almost always am driving my 4Runner so it's not as much fun to drive around as it is when I'm whipping around in the ack

an asshole from florida
I miss going out on drives. I would go once in a while when I first got the car, but with having a messed up drivers seat, being broke and just trying to avoid terrible drivers, I don't go out for joy rides anymore.
And Georgia Drivers are just as bad as Florida Drivers. Especially driving in parking lots, I've lived up here a year now and people haul ass through the middle of a parking lot like it doesn't matter.

Hot Ass!
I do miss those days and nights of aimlessly driving around...LOL! My best friend and I would go drive on Farm-to-Markets for fun. We did have what we called "Be Nice Day" where we would purposely get into rush hour traffic on a extremely busy street. We stayed in the right line, and would let people trying to turn right from a parking lot, etc., into traffic; usually no one lets them in. People behind us got mad but the ones who we let in, in most cases, would actually let someone else turn onto the street....kinda a chain reaction of niceness....LOL!
Now, I'm too much of a bitch , and my best friend is married with two kids...

All motor
I used to love going on long drives, usually looking for some runs as well. However, plenty of times just for sh1ts, enjoying the windows down atmosphere. I live with my GF now and she hates everything about the car so I rarely do it. The gas $$ doesn't bother me since I'm doing something I enjoy. Some people make fun of driving aimlessly, but it's a great way to get rid of stress if something is on your mind, at least for me. A relaxing drive + your favorite music = win.

Racer
I used to (and still occasionally do) drive around aimlessly, or go somewhere so damn far away (say... California, from Vancouver, BC) for no reason other than to drive.
I love it but the piss poor mileage of the CL in the city (18-19), it kinda ruins it a bit especially when we pay about $6/gal ($1.56/L) for 91/92. The bad mileage is the main reason I am looking into selling the CL and replacing it with a CBR250RA. Plenty to see around here and with the average 68MPG people seem to be getting, I will surely be going on more aimless trips :P

Yeah, I take the long way whenever I can.... until I end up getting close to empty then I get pissed off since it always comes at an inconvenient time. I get no-ethanol premium and the station isn't open as often as 99% of other gas stations, so I often think I'm gonna get down to the last gallon or so in the tank before I get to fill it back up.

Love it. When I lived in downtown Toronto permanently, I'd sometimes need to just GTFO. I have to go somewhere I've never been before, otherwise it doesn't work. So the mileage would rack upAnd as you go on more drives, you need to drive further to get lost
Great way to blow a tank and half a day. Best time for it is dusk, into the evening IMO.

In NY I loved going for late night drives. I can't do that here in VA due to all the deer.
Rapture - Im jealous you can get non-ethanol fuel

no-ethanol is great... except for the price. I swear the last time I was there it was $4.56 a gallon... and now I hear prices are going up again $62 last time I filled up.. However you do get better gas mileage, better throttle response, etc. so I think it's worth it
Like I said it is pretty inconvenient, though. Only one station in the area has it. When I eventually move to a different city, it's back to the 10% ethanol. However from what I hear by that time it'll probably be 15%. Doesn't ethanol break down engine components?

I thought they shot down the 15% ethanol thing, and they may even remove it entirely due to the drought. Heres hoping at least
#27
I really hope they do, too. I don't even want to know how my car will run with that. Going to 10% after running zero ethanol is pretty rough as it is.

I live about 10 mins away from miccosukee gaming resort, basically the everglades. There is a canal on one side, trees on the other and gators on both.
Other than that there is pinecrest, beautiful area old trees, old/new houses...(multi-million dollar homes)...i feel broke when i go, a 5 bedroom house on the edge of the area 2.5 mil, in this housing market
Miami doesn't really have sticks, just pricks

I have taken my CL on some joy rides, but mostly I use it for trips and everyday driving. But I did with my first vehicles, just because I had nothing better to do than hang out with friends and enjoy life and low gas prices. Nowdays, all I do is work work work, so no fun for me.
