More looks than I thought!

After owning a Sundance Gold Acura CL-S for about a year now, I must admit that I have received and still am receiving many admirable looks, notices, and compliments.

When I first purchased the car, I knew that I liked the exterior in my own subjective kind of way. I also realized, especially from car magazines and car TV shows, that the car looked a little too bland for the general public.

Through my experience, this was not the case. Maybe it's the color. Maybe it's the HID's (always on). For me, it is the double/triple looks that people give to my car that makes it well worth the purchase. And this is on top of the value features, engine power/sound, and quality fit and finish.

Do you perceive the same reaction to your car or is it just the area that I live in?

Its definitely the color. Like you said... the styling is "bland" for lack of a better word, or at least not ground-breaking. I still get people stopping me and asking me about it but nowhere near as many as when I first got it (May 2000). I'm surprised I haven't caused accidents because of people rubber-necking on the color.

Just got back from the Grocery store. Older gentleman parked next to me said is that the new CL type S or P, I was surprised he knew the different models. He had to be pushing 67 years of age, but he had a clean Toyota Supra, one of the first ones and he is thinking about the CLS ! I sold him on it !

I think it's a combo of the Car and the Color !

I have a Silver CL-S ... and love it. My wife hates the GOLD, but I must tell you I really really like it: it's different, unusual. Oh, there are tons of people to seem to say, "PIMP DADDY...Pimp Daddy" but I think the car in Gold is very stunning: Natural for the heads to be turning.

Glad to hear its happening, and I know you are !

Conservative... that's the word. The CL is conservative, like me! The is300 with those clear taillights didn't do anythign for me. If the IS had normal taillights, I might be in one. Lincoln LS... too pricey for a luxury Mustang GT. Mustang? Baaaaa... Bahhhh... Every other car is some sort of Stang. Be different like everyone else. Audi? No way will I ever buy an Audi. Too many horror stories. Same applies to GM and Dodge. Ford? Maybe I'll get a used manual Escort for a beater car to learn to drive manual.

I was at the grocery today on 23rd and Clement and parked right next to the Silver CLS, just like mine . When I came out of the store I saw a guy leaving the parking so I gave him thumb up, he smiled strangely and hurried away...

I still have people asking or rubber necking all the time. I think the gold gives the car some character since the styling is so, ah, subdued shall I say? My wife used to hate the color, but now admits she's grown fond of it. In fact she wants the Type S when I decide to buy something else......better keep it a while.

Same here on the "LOOKS!!"

I've had my PDG since 04-May-00 and it turns heads now virtually as often as it did the first few days after I bought the car. I still get questions about the color and the car. And MOST of the reactions are still positive.

Aside from the 'A' on the grille which is a giveaway as to the manufacturer, I think that it does take a 'car person' to know what it really is and to differentiate the trim levels -- P or S.

I have begun seeing more of the CL around where I live; in both trim levels. It's good, IMO, that there are at least a few more around. I haven't seen another PDG one around here yet though.

I like that too!!

I get compliments on the color (gold)....my car isn't looking its best at the moment (few dents, dirty)....but it get looks, I get people who like it and others who flat out hate it (someone said to me a week or so ago that it looks like "cooked carrots") another person said it looks like a "Pumkin."
Its definitely different, haven't seen another one around yet.

Pumkin, I can live with that.
