Angry Look what happened to me today...

First off all im still so pissed off that i really want use some gas and fire up this car after all this what happened....

Today morning i fired up car as always but there was rough idle and CEL appeard. i felt that car is vibrating and i though it was misfire... i drove the car to work nothing really happened... after work i asked my friend mechanic to check the code and we pulled 5 codes 1 2 3 and 6 cyl misfire and random misfire. i was shocked bc i car felt great and besides vibrating on idle everthing else was fine. the i took it for ride home car was fine on highway but when i got into town car start to vibrates alot more it was so sluggish i couldnt even accelerate and it did sound like subaru or something i was like wow now i was sure thats misfire but i continued drive home after i called my friend again and i told him what happened i realized that i just put few days ago my p2r thermo spacer so i thought may be something got burned or melt and i have a leak so i took it apart i removed thermo spacer i used some grease to put it back together on the old gasket... start it up again same thing... i called my friend again he told me that my injectors may be clogged so went to a store and i bought injector cleaner and filled with shell vpower to make sure its all good... then i took it for like 10 min ride i went onto highway and was trying keep the rpms about 4-5 k rpms so it will get cleaned faster... after like 6-8 min it was all gone and great and then....

BOOOOOOOM

...
this is exactly how it did look like when i poped the hood

as you can see there is no spark plug but i was like WHERE THE EFFF did it go ?

and here it is

it melted down there with the plastic i'll try to take a picture of it tomorrow.

The thread for spark plug is gone... i just hope that i can get a "sleeve" somwhere otherwise i have to rebuilt the heads...

i have no idea how could that happened...

anyway id make it home on 2 cylinders 4 and 5.

i did change them 35k miles ago... it cant be that... NGK iridium just for a record

i was running on misfire and probably got flooded with fuel and then piston make so much presure that spark plug flew off but is this thread made from aluminium ? i dont think so...

I can't tell in the pics, but are the threads gone? Or it might be possible that the plug backed its self out then the compression finnaly poped it out.

Can you still run a plug in the hole or does it need to be tapped ?

You need to strip the motor change pistons swap heads and im. I have not time for that now. Ill try to fix it as it is now make new thread and see what happens. Its thanksgiving. My ody engine is not complete so for now i want to make it driveable.

I dont know hows my heads and how is my piston.

Plan for today is to fix the thread then use camera to find out whats inside then do compression test. Idk what else what can i do without taking the head off. I need to find out what is the damage.

Hypothetically speaking, I wonder if the plug would have gone through the hood if the coil had not been in the way?

Wow man, that is really really shitty. If anyone can empathize with your situation it's me.

As for the engine swap, you probably can find a j35 engine for under $500. When I did my swap I didn't do the cam swap. If you have a shop that can do the install, you might be able to do all of this for $1500.

I seriously have no idea how that happened, the threads should have held no matter the compression unless it was cross threaded. My spark plug got bent like a swizzle stick and it still was threaded in.

Good luck, keep us updated.

Edit: I just noticed that you said you were working on an Ody engine but it's not ready. I guess that just makes the situation even more complicated.

You could have stripped the threads and thats why it blew out. If you know how I would try a hela coil for now. It will make new threads in the head as a temp fix till you can figure something out. Its not the best idea but you will need a new head eventually. Change the oil flush out the fuel system to get rid of any oil etc. Hela coil is just a temp fix, don't rely on it for long. Good luck!

Whats hela coil ?

For now all my hopes in spark plug thread repair kit. It may or it may not work im gonna try it. Im affraid to say but that may be my own fault. When i purchased the car i changed the spark plugs. Probably it did tight it enough but its really hard to belive for me that i did it. I'll let you know guys with updates. Keep your finger crossed. Im looking for temporary solution for now that i will save some money and do hopefully 3.5 or 3.6.

Here is a little reading for you on helicoils.

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...repair/4212608

I would not trust it for long though. I wonder is someone over tourqed the sparkplug at one time and streched the shit out of thoes threads. The aluminium is very soft compared to iron heads.

Also in your pic of the spark plug I can't see the electrode? Is it there or is it in the cylinder? Was there an impact?

Dang.

I would stick a magnet down in the cyclinder and move it around, just in case that electrode is in the cylinder. Just make sure the magnet is secure to what ever you use. Otherwise you'll end up with a magnet stuck to your wall in the cylinder!

I tried that but every magnet i used was to big to fit. I have acces to very strong neodyme(sp?) magnets which i'll try to weld to stainlesssteel stick. Then i got to weld socket to taper and try it again tomorrow. As for now i doesnt look as bad as i thought.

Which one should i go with ? I know NGK but there is like 3 kinds of them.

Yeah heli coils are deff a temp fix. I'm not sure what all comes in your spark plug repair kit but i'm sure its similar. You have to try and re-thread the head strait in, then hope it holds for a while. Either way its a tricky situation. Hope you can salvage a head or figure out an alternative.

or im just gonna leave the CL block get a new front cylinder head and get internals for 3.6 and RL pistons? seriously there is too much going on now and im confused as hell
