J35a3 swap questions
Hello!
I've been doing some research on here because I'm interested in a j35a3 swap but not for a CL-S but a civic. I think the same things should apply except a harness merge.
Right now I'm thinking the plan is to go
J35a3 stock
RL cam
J37 intake
6 speed manual
CL-S manual ECU
Just like of you guys I'm interested in going a true manual set up. When I did the math and really thought how much I would gain by going AEM imo it just wasnt worth the pedestrian gain. I've seen some of you guys have successfully swapped j35a3s into your CL-S.
Did you need to swap out the auto sensors on the engine for the j32a2 sensors? I dont beleive they would be plug and play. I know the auto type S and manual have different sensors. Is there any other parts that need to be replaced?
Also, locating a CL-S manual ECU seems to be my biggest road block atm. Locating one has not been easy and I'm not sure how much theyll cost. All I know is that itll be far cheaper than the AEM one (hopefully) lol.
Any advice where to find one? Thanks!
This seems to be the easiest way to go in terms of stock power on OEM parts.

Go to car-part.com, enter the criteria for an AcuraCL; Engine Computer for a Type-S, MT into the search fields, I found one whole page (total of13) of ECU's nationwide.

Maybe I'm just dumb and not seeing it
All I'm getting for search criteria is:
Year
Model
Part
Zipcode
Other than that, my set up should work right? Do you know anything about sensor conversion or is it plug and play with the cl-s manual harness?
Thanks!

I'm using the mobile site and haven't found any options that allow you to both search for CLS ecu with manual tranny options.
Maybe I'm just dumb and not seeing it
All I'm getting for search criteria is:
Year: 2003
Model: AcuraCL
Part: Engine Computer
All Areas/Select an Area
Sort by Distance/Select Sort
Zipcode: Your Zipcode
Other than that, my set up should work right? Do you know anything about sensor conversion or is it plug and play with the cl-s manual harness?

CLS6 engine harness
CLS 6 speed transmission with crank sensor
Crank TB pulley; CRK sensor; TB stopper plate
Front Head Cam TB pulley; and the TDC cam sensor assembly & sub harness
The water jacket and connecting pipe from the J32A2 is different from the J35A3 and the Map sensor on the J32A2 throttle Body is different from the J35A3. I believe the egr valve assembly is different as well.
All of the above can be cross referenced thoroughly by using the 'search' function. Everything you need has been talked about many times here on this forum.

You need the following from a MT J32A2 to make the auto J35A3 six speed compatible when using the MT ECU:
CLS6 engine harness
CLS 6 speed transmission with crank sensor
Crank TB pulley; CRK sensor; TB stopper plate
Front Head Cam TB pulley; and the TDC cam sensor assembly & sub harness

And the transmission MUST be a CL-S 6 speed? I'm feel like I'm almost better off looking for a used 2003 CL-S 6 speed and do direct swap.
Dont got any sites to find if of those do ya? Lol. I'm from Wisconsin. Nothing good is close.

If you want to run the CLS6 ECU, you need the crank sensor at the flywheel. That only appears on the 2003 CLS6 model year.
Serious people, considering the detail this swap involves, usually are better off with finding a cheap source car.
Here's one in California. Go get it.
