I hardwired in my Radar Detector

And took a bunch of pictures with the intent of making a DIY out of it - then forgot.

Does anyone care?

p.s. that awful yellow-ness I used as an adhesive didn't work, its gone now.
p.p.s. I just uploaded a new picture of my armrest 1 year after that DIY...

Not really, but good idea, I had one hardwired in my last car, haven't gotten around to it yet in my cl . What did you use for a hot lead?

That's the catch. There is power up there for something. One wire is a constant, the other is powered from the ignition. I don't remember which color wire is which though. I'd tear it apart and figure it out if there was any interest, otherwise y'all can figure it out

In all of my previous cars I've run the wire to the fuse box. The CL makes it easy as it's got power to the rear-view mirror. Here's some info on tapping into it. A couple of crimp on connectors from Radio Shack for like $3 should be all you need.

Pretty much. Wiring from the fuse box is also how i've done it in the past - but its a long way to go, with no good way to get there in this car.

Because the wires are such a small gage, i used crimp connectors that look like a push button - Like these from Radio Shack

The trick is finding the right wires but simple enough with a test light or multimeter.

Nice. I've used those connectors before too (worked at RadioShack for a couple years). On the CL you could use these connectors to push into the back of the mirror connector (this is what you're paying for when you buy that connector from the other link I posted). I have my mirror unhooked (I hate the auto-dim and OnStar is worthless/no longer available).

Cool - thanks!

Yeah, I don't have OnStar and my back window is Limo-tinted so I don't even know if my rear view auto tint works.

I have 25% tint in the rear and it still did the auto-dim. Hated it. All you could see is a couple dull lights in the rear-view.

The auto dim is activated from the front-left side of the mirror. Or some may say the back side of the mirror. Basically the side that faces the front of the car. There is a pit/hole in the plastic and if you put your hand over it during the day you will see the mirror darken with a bluish color tint. Found this out from hanging a parking pass. You can turn it off though by pushing the power button on the mirror.
