I WAS SKEPTICAL TOOO, d car was hit in the front drivers side and so most of the damage is to the front. But there is just no telling to how BAD it is.
I figure out at least another 2-3k for repairs and it is still a salvage title.

what appealed to me was the average miles on the 6 speed ,assuming the tranny is in TOP SHAPE.

You can pick up a clean 6MT for ~$10k now. Dont waste your money on a car with no resale value.

I picked mine up in early Oct with 68K miles and clean for 10-ish. Clear title and original owner. I'd go that route since you can't have a car like that on their website inspected and negotiate further

i'd say to get a 6 speed and start from there as well.

that thing looks to have at least 3g damage, and ur time, and it's still a salvage. just makes no sense really.

Offer him 1500 (with it brought to ur place) and then u got a deal. lol

i paid, ready for this, $1800. for only some minor bend in the bulk head, new front and rear bumper, two headlights, hood, grill, tail light. i was looking at that car and thinking about biding on it a few weeks ago (did the auction end already?). but then again i like my tl-s.

Looking at the pics again, thats definately more then $3k worth of damage. Look at the engine pic, the battery is practically on top of the motor. Theres some frame damage.

Another good way to check what the current selling prices for any car are is to go to ebay and do a completed listing search for whatever type of car you are interested in. They don't have too many CL's just because its a fairly rare car, but it will give you some idea. Sometimes you can find cars with salvage titles as well.

For me personally, I'd never touch a salvage title car, its hard to resell, sometimes you have trouble with insurance companies and getting a loan on it, too.

If they totalled that car it means that there is some SERIOUS damage to the car. I am getting my 02 CL-S fixed after an accident and they did not total it and it had $6K worth of damage done to it.......

New cradle
new Passenger side fender and door skin
new front exhaust pipe
new a/c condenser
new bumper
new suspension peices
repaint entire left side of car
maybe new rims

thats weird, most insurance companies will write the car off @ 6k off damage.
the car must be worth a lot more since they have decided to fix it NOT unless the damage price was inflated.

insurance puts in new oem costs. so it raised the price a whole lot.

^ insurance company asked me if I wanted aftermarket or OE parts and all I said was to use what they wanted just as long as the repairs are covered under their lifetime guarantee. They stated they would use OE parts. The body shop also stated OE parts for repairs.

I have nothing but good things to say about Luther Collission and Glass and Progressive auto insurance. The original estimate was for $5K and I figure a little more plus what they paid for my rental car will bring the total to $6K.

Car is worth about $10K according to KBB retail. It helps having the body shop that fixed all of the pait chips do the work on the car.....

I am sure there are some smaller parts they will have to replace

IDK...

My wife's first BMW was a 2006. A year ago, she was rear ended by a new Dodge pickup while sitting at a red light. The damage didn't look too bad and I've seen worst but the grand total fixing her car was a little over 18K to fix it. KBB on her car before the accident was 26K and with 18K in damage I just knew they were going to total it but they didn't. She never felt the same about it and just recently got another 328 but new. Now's she smiles and lets me spend what I want on the CL

Rajca, I cant believe you got your 6 speed for that cheap, and with that little damage.
Over here, 6 speeds never go for less than 2500, but the highest it goes is about 3500 or 4000.

This one is worth about 2500.

i waited 2 years for it. i didnt want to pay more than a swap would cost. around 3k. and all of them went for more than that. i just wanted parts for a swap. i was gonna tear this one apart and sell it for parts and keep what i needed. but it had almost no damage. and more aftermarket support.
