How many WATTS is our stock stereo

How many watts is the stock BOSE stero, just wondering cause i dont think i have ever read that anywear.

BlueCLS6 03-02-2003 11:53 PM

GOOD QUESTION. I do not know, but there is an amp for it in the trunk!

SilverKnight 03-03-2003 12:02 AM

read the sticky in A/V forum.

JRock 03-03-2003 12:06 AM

12watts and two gerbils on rodent wheels to power the rear speakers.

BlackShadow 03-03-2003 12:09 AM

I believe it was ~180 or 190. Either way, it's not that powerful...not bad but not good either.

SilverKnight 03-03-2003 12:13 AM

BlackShadow, your expectation is too high, way too high.

CLSter 03-03-2003 12:34 AM

You'll love this from the BOSE® site:

3. Why can’t I get a list of technical specifications?
Because our custom-engineered, complete system solutions largely supersede conventional audio measurements. Even some basic building blocks have been redefined -- including amplifiers, speakers and equalizers. But most importantly, everything is integrated and works together for results that vary significantly from those provided by conventional systems made up of individual, unmatched components. For example, with a Bose automotive system the location and design of the speakers can be much more important factors in determining the output than the wattage power rating. The bottom line? The best tests of a Bose system’s sound quality aren’t a list of specifications, but your ears.

SilverKnight 03-03-2003 12:44 AM

My ears told me that the Bose speakers in my car were pieces of shit and combined with the amp, they made a whole turd :thumbsdn:

Well you just don't listen to the same music they recommend then! http://www.bose.com/products/auto/listen-sugg.html :chuckle: The superiority of their products will be much clearer once you read this too: http://www.bose.com/products/auto/faq.html

Nashua_Night_Hawk 03-03-2003 01:00 AM

Who cares it sounds Okay with CD and FM stereo... What do you want a night club Audio System?

DaBoomVatz 03-03-2003 01:07 AM

Just add a 12" sub and that will take care of what the bose system lacks. I get a lot of compliments on my "stock" system.

1killercls 03-03-2003 06:31 AM

Because I listen to rock, alternative and punk rock I don't require BASS that unscrews license plate frames. I believe the Bose system is fine...could go a tiny LOUDER thats all. But on the whole...I am satisfied.

amir was here 03-03-2003 07:15 AM

change everything.

chikai 03-03-2003 08:41 AM

distortion on the stock speakers come in real early on the volume dial. It just can't handle majority of the R&B/Hip Hop/Dance/Trance I listen to. Adding the 10" Rockford in the trunk did help tremendously.

I like how Bose recommends music to play w/ their speakers. It's like they are suggesting the entire world to listen to the same crap they listen to...

I would like to add a sub to my system. How did you wire it?

Its been said over and over "Bose no highs - no lows."

IntegraVT 03-03-2003 11:16 AM

You know it's low when they don't readily advertise it... 100.

Bluesman: Check the AV forum it's really easy to wire.

About the best mod you can do for the stock system. A single 10 or 12 plus some dynamat. Will make most people happier.

Replace eveything if it is worth it to you.

Titand19 03-03-2003 01:05 PM

Yeah , it's 100watts

patsmere 03-03-2003 01:49 PM

5. If my Bose music system is so advanced, why doesn’t it have lots of buttons, dials, and other controls?
Because we engineer our systems to put the technology on the inside, not on the outside. When you’re driving, you don’t really want to spend time and concentration adjusting lots of controls to fine-tune your car’s music system, do you? The important thing to understand is that what looks simple on the outside is actually much more complex within. With a Bose automotive music system, the tweakings and fine-tunings necessary for high-fidelity sound all take place inside the system. For example, even a simple adjustment of the volume control releases a symphony of changes, as Bose patented signal processing automatically re-creates natural tonal balance at the new volume level. You’re left free to hear -- and enjoy -- the music, without having to make the many adjustments required for high-fidelity sound yourself.

Because they dont want you to blow there $h!tty @$$ speakers that they have.

Fabvsix 03-03-2003 02:04 PM

Certainly enough WATTS to DROWN out the rattles in the car !

blackmagiCL_S 03-03-2003 02:06 PM

I think that the stock system sound okay. I haven't had any distortion problems but I don't generally go in for super-heavy bass music. hhmmm...now that I think about it, a little more bass would be nice. It outperforms my last Prelude's system though.

I'll admit that the Bose is not a bad System, but you really have high expectations for this stock system. It sounds like you are typing up an add for us.

25 watts/channel

Jimmorrison 08-03-2003 05:08 PM

My 97 3.0 CL has a 160 watt Bose system stock...I'd be pissed if yours is only a 100.

Titand19 08-03-2003 05:21 PM

Hey noob WTF? How the hell did you manage to bring back this thread? I was gonna post again until I realized that I posted 5 months ago already. :uzi:

No highs, No lows, must be BOSE

Eternal TL2k3 08-04-2003 08:06 AM

my brother has a 100watt bose in his car and mine is a lot louder than his is... i always figured we were around 200

kevin79925 08-04-2003 08:14 AM

its a 180w system so the dealer told me when i bought the car 2 months ago

dets 08-04-2003 09:45 AM

25 x 4. 100 watt bose stock on my 2001 type s. Honestly, i don't understand what all the fuss is about. The high's and low's in the system are much better than other cars in our class. the BMW that my girl used to drive sounds like shit compared to mine, and she has a premium sound package. In Audi's, bose has three different classes, (syphony, concert, and standard). If you need more bass, add a sub. dynamat the car and you'll be fine.

I really like my Bose system, because I save all that space with that flat panel subwoofer http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/cwm/silly.gif , and the system response is pretty flat too.

CLSter 08-04-2003 03:44 PM

I have no complaints either. I was listening to Hail to the Thief in my car pretty loud and was hearing more details than in my home system.

lowpost 08-04-2003 04:08 PM

If you've ever had a really clean aftermarket system, you can never go back. The BOSE system probably is one of the better stock systems around, but I've had good aftermarket systems for a long time and everytime I listen to a BOSE system it sounds like shit. It doesn't matter what music you listen to or how loud - the bose system sounds like it goes from 200hz - 12,000khz or something like that, and it sounds muffled. listen to the same music with a clean head unit, clean amps and good speakers and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I know this is an old thread brought back but my girl just got her 2004 CLK 500 last week and the BOSE system sucks ass to me - but she's fine with it.

The 2001 Acura Full Line Brochure lists the BOSE Amp as having 225 WATTS. Only the RL, TL, and CL had BOSE systems in the 1999 through 2003 model year.
