help sourcing the dome light wire!

Hey guys,

I am starting to wire in my puddle lamps and I need help with sourcing the dome light wire. I dont want to have to crack open my pillars and interior roofing components, so if someone can help me out that has either done this already or has a manual that can help me out, I need to know where the dome light wire comes down to the dash so I can tap into it for my puddle lamps.

thanks!

Evan

Dont know if this will work for you.Pull the dome cover off.un screw both nuts holding dome shell.pull down to see wire colors.then check wire blocks that go into the fuse box for corresponding colors.theres one the left and one on the right.Dont remember witch side the wiring goes.I use this to wire in a extra set of tweeters, with out having to run new wires from the door.probally be easier to run the wires directy from the factory curtisey lights thou.

i would do that but the courtesy lights on the doors are only open when the doors themselves are open.

I thought thats when you need the puddle lights.when your getting out the car.unless you was wanting them to come on when you unlock with the remote, and if thats the case definitly tap into the dome.

yea, i need them to come on when i unlock. because if they only come on once i get up to the car, it kind of defeats the purpose. then they would only be useful getting out of the car, and not getting in.

If there is a puddle by the driver side door that you cant navigate around are you gonna go in through the passenger door and hop the center console to get into the drivers seat?? J/K haha, There has to be some wiring schematic around somewhere... eventually someone will post some info.

I need to know how to replace the entire wiring harness for the dome light. Don't you have to remove the head liner?

u dont have to tap in to dome light, just connect it to the door switch on the pillar. Also u'll have to run a 5-way relay.

I would write you a schematic but dont know how the wires run on our cars. I'll have to get back after I check it.

what door switch? the actual door open or the lock? because i want it to be on when my dome light is, not just the door being open
