header frustrations for the 03 cls 6mt

i really want to get headers for my 03 cls. unfortunately, i have the 6mt and the only one that i can get is the CT and i don't have the funds for that. from what you guys have said DC makes one for 03 but does not fit the manual transmission. is CT my only option? does anyone else have this dilemma and what are you doing about it? do i just need to suck it up and cough up the $$$?

Some people have the XSPower headers on their 6 speed. A couple reported no problems. I guess for $150 it wouldn't hurt to try

CT is the only company that makes quality headers for the 6mt. Even though they are a little on the expensive side, they are very high in quality and worth paying for. Go with the comptechs and you will be happy. I have them and love em. Anyone on the forum give you the same advice.
Good luck.

CT would be the way to go. I can see myself buying comptech headers if something goes wrong with my XSpower ones. I couldnt pass on buying them for the price. The place that installed them told me they have seen alot of crap and think that mine are good quality, but who knows. Ive had them for less than a week so my opinion doesnt hold much but so far im happy

and here you are - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Accor...spagenameZWDVW

the ebay site claims 8-10horses, but others who have these headers including me say that the gains are closer to comptechs.

Whistle Sounds

I did some research on these and found that quite a few people get whistle sounds from them.

Not sure if the problem is fixed by now but just something everyone who is thinking of buying them should be aware of.

That link doesn't work. I don't have any noises from my car either.
I will say the company isn't great to deal with though.

I love my XS Powers.

I got mine within a week of ordering them off ebay. $150 well spent IMO. Whistle? Yeah, a slight whistle on WOT at high RPM's but otherwise, no sounds out of the ordinary from them. It sounds stock unless you really lay the hammer down. I think it actually sounds kind of cool so I don't care. As for HP increase, I can tell you it's way more than the 8-10 claim on ebay. I'm certain it's comparable to Comptech. I would imagine all headers available for the 2nd Gen CL give the the same output, if not, close.

The other thing I love about these is I can take them from my AT to my MT if I ever decide to purchase said MT.

i tried the s s chromes, gain of 29HP.. dynoed!!!!!! for 1k less its worth it to try them, quality is great and I have had them on my 6 speed for 9 months!! they barely started turning yellow with slight tints of blue.. go for it but dont use their gasket!!! use your original or buy the original at the dealer!! I am serious, the crappy ones that come with it will burn out but the originals will last the life of the car, also use the stock bolts not the crappy ones that come with the headers.. headers a quality-- gaskets and screws D- quality...by the way I love the way they sound and had 1 less HP than my comptechs!! so I sold my comptechs for $800.. thanks ss auto..

as its an option im consierding i did some research and went to the company's website, and the headers are like $370 bucks on the website! why are they dropping them for 150 on ebay? are they early versions that dont fit right or have some other malfunction? this is kind of odd, same seller, just huge price difference between website and ebay store.heres the link

Weird. Got mine from ebay and the fitment was perfect along with all the welds and everything. I also got them within a week of paying for them. I know it took awhile for Fuzzy to get his though.

They're installing these parts on the wrong car. You should have them transferred to mine immediately. Which dealer did you use?

Oh and uhhh, you suck by the way.

All dealers charge different prices ($125-225) to install headers. You don't need new gaskets.

But it wouldn't hurt to have 'em right? Cheap part, considering the cost of the headers, etc.

It's a metal ring gasket. Can't really see how it would need to be replaced.

Oh,... you mean the gaskets that go on the block... Yeah I suppose they could be replaced. But I believe they are $15-20/each. The ring gaskets are about $4/each.

Yeah, that's what I meant. The gaskets that go between the block and the headers. I plan on replacing those and the nuts. I feel like a few dollars (even at $30 for both block gaskets) gives me piece of mind knowing that fresh parts are going on and I don't have to worry about a stripped rusty nut. hahaha Nut.

There are no block gaskets, well at least not for the headers. The exhaust ports are on the head. The block houses the pistons, rods, crankshaft, etc. The header has the valve train, cams, and ports for the exhaust manifolds. So you need the gaskets for the head.

Dammit!! Go away from me! I didn't approve this supercharger business. You already have the wheels, now this. Get out!

Duh, you're right. That's what I meant **exhaust port gaskets**. As I was rereading my own post I knew that didn't sound right for some reason. But I hope you guys get the picture.

it was like 200 or 300. I would rather pay for them to do it and have them be responsible for it. If it is comptech, they will install it. Oh, and the supercharger is great. I did 150 mph in fourth gear(tiptronic) at 6000 rpms today. I didn't think our cars would go that fast. I punked out at 150. It just might go to 160. Maybe it is because of the supercharger.
