Optima red top, for more cold cranking amps. Red instead of yellow because I don't have a system.

For some weird reason my radio code was posted on a sticker on the right panel of my glovebox. I was trying to call around various dealerships to get the code before I discovered the sticker.

Dude, just get the Wal-Mart brand. Believe it or not, in the long run its so much better. MAIN REASON WHY, they have batteries that are just as good as the one they sell in Sears and autopart stores. They have a FREE 3 YEAR REPLACEMENT like other known batteries have and plus, how many wal-marts are there? Seriously if your battery goes dead, almost everywhere you go, there is a Wal-Mart and it will be a lot less of hassle than trying to find a Sears or something. If you get a sound system, just get a capacitor!

Mine was replaced a few months ago, it lasted over 4 yrs, so i just went with the acura battery. I noticed the replacement did not have that indicator light on it like the original did though.

I just bought a durolast battery. It was about $80 but it is a little smaller then the stock battery but once I screwed it down it seemed sturdy in place!

Question

Mine just died. What kind of specs should I look for? My Acura dealer said to get a '550 cold crank'.

Advance Auto Parts battery that cost about 50.00--2 year replaement and 72 months pro rata warranty. Highly rated by Consumer Reports. I bought my car in August of 2000 and my battery lasted about 4 1/2 years. Escalaraa's idea about Wal Mart makes sense too. As long it fits, is properly rated, and has a good warranty, price and convenience are paramount.

What about specifications? Or is a battery is a battery is a battery? The specs for the stock Delco battery are 12V 65 AH / 20 HR. My Acura dealer says I need a '550 cold crank' battery. What should I look for?

I just got one at Acura. Don't have much of a stereo, and they have a 5 year replacement warranty. No pro-rate and no questions asked. To me that equals no hassle.

If you have a stereo, I would suggest you look at the Optima's. The Yellow or Blue is best for stereos. The Blue has extra terminals for accessories. The red is a good upgrade over the stock if you are running a lot of accessories.

OK...lots of talk about brand names, but what about SPECS! Or are they all pretty much the same? The specs for the stock Delco battery are 12V 65 AH / 20 HR. My Acura dealer says I need a '550 cold crank' battery. What should I look for?

Before last winter for my second car I went to WalMart. So far so good. 39.99 - 5 trade-in I think. That's inexpensive I think.

all water and acid batteries are pretty much the same, regardless of the brand. depending on who you buy it from, you get a different warranty period.

when acura says you need a 550 cca, you need a 550 cca to start you car.

The CL requires a group size 24 battery. Picking the incorrect size means that the battery might not provide enough current or may not fit your vehicle. Vibration that is caused by improper fit may decrease the life of the battery. Also, a battery with the wrong terminal type or location may not allow the cables to attach properly or even reach the battery.

I got the Advance Autocraft (Advance Auto) Silver 24-5, to which Consumer Reports gives the highest overall rating of group 24 batteries.

optima red top because its got about 300 more CCA ( comes with 800cca) then the standard acura battery, its also made with concrete thats why they are so heavy and vibration resistant, will not leak, and almost not out gassing. also got a good warrenty fits perfectly once you take out that crappy black battery box, its not needed. i also did notice a starting difference in the winter with the optima vs the standard acura battery the car started easier and cranked faster perfect when its 10 degrees outside.

2.5 years = New Acura Battery, and a new Transmission

I took the CL Type S in to get the steering wheel radio controls replaced. Told him that the "new" transmission was beginning to act up.. like the first one. He started the car and said, "Didja hear that?" I shrugged. He said the battery was dying and it should be replaced. He even had the balls to tell me that a bad battery could have bad results on the transmission and that's why it was acting up. I told him to put the new battery in. $71 pro-rated, about the same as a new Die Hard. I left the car at the dealership. 2 hours later, the writer called to tell me they were going to replace the transmission. #3. Hmmmm.... I wonder if it affected the battery.... or the radio controls.

They lie. They all lie.
