Fastest 2G CL?

I'm sorry to be "that guy" but every time I search about this I get results from no later than '08-'09. Things must have changed since then.

I was wondering whats the most WHP/TQ ever put down? Both N/A & F/I. No matter what kind of build, 3.2, swapped 3.x, Turbo, or blown.

I'm selling my car and opting for an '03 CLS6, my goals were ~300WHP, & and a LOW 13 second car, (under 13.3). Thanks for your time.

No CLs in the 12s. You're going to need more than 300WHP to see anything around low 13s.

I'd opt for something else honestly. There aren't much in the way of after market stuff for these cars and even with what is available, it's going to be a struggle to see low 13s and it'll cost you a LOT of money to do it.

These cars are over 10 years old in that time no one has gotten to the 12s. That should be a sign that they're just not performance cars.

Weez did you forget about me lmao?!?!? I think I can safely say I hold the record so far for the fastest 2nd gen cls. I ran 12.5@112 with proof remember? I also made 425+whp and 475+wtq if I remember correctly off the top of my head.

That's the whole purpose of me buying my car. Only 480 produced so it's rare. I like driving around and going to the track without seeing a bunch of my same car. It's different, and sleeper status because no one expects it. Mine isn't a gutted race car either, it's still fully loaded minus the spare tire.

I will agree that there isn't much aftermarket support but I'm getting around that slowly with a lot of money, time, and custom parts. Once I have my new 3.5 engine swapped in and 100%. I'm shooting for mid to low 11's and well into the 500's on hp and tq.

Feel free to show me any 2nd gen cl faster with proof if I'm wrong lol. Not trying to sound smart at all either.

700+hp rwd Acura cl. Guess 1foxbody doesn't hold the record lol. Although this car is only a purpose built drag car

Not really a CL other than the body look. Totally custom tube frame, etc.

Thanks for the re-assurance.

I have an '02 Accord coupe V6 and I want to get something 6 Speed & funner to drive. I really want to stay with Honda since it's my comfort zone. So it was always in between an S2K or a CLS6.

3G TL's/NSX's are too expensive. TSX's are nice but their interiors are super cheap and the back seat area is just as small as my accord coupe. -_-... And RSX's... no, just no.

That tube chassis rwd drag car doesn't count! It doesn't even have a real front clip lmao. Yes sleeper status because if you ever saw my car driving down the street would you expect it to make the power it does and be spraying over a 200 shot? Most likely not..Trust me everyone that comes across my car always says that too me lol. It surprises a lot of different types of people haha.

Working on it for the N/A guys.
I have no 1/4 slips But I know I'm in the 12's for sure.
Next outing to the track I will be showing some strong 1/8 numbers that can be estimated.
Looking at my slips and weight removed I'm guessing It will run 12.7 but, it's just a guess till I can get to a 1/4 track

That's reese lol! He doesn't count either since it's a accord. Which is a lighter chassis. Also he hasn't ran low 12's, he's ran low 13's. I'm talking about strictly a 2nd gen cl, nothing else lol.

I meant to put low 13's I was mostly posting that one to give ideas for a non aspirated build on a j32

Weez didn't acknowledge it in your original thread after you ran it so it's no surprise he wiped it from memory. I think he has a love/hate relationship with the CL.

OP, You can do whatever you want to do. Dont let detractors discourage you from a car you like. It's true it's not the most mod friendly car but if you know what you're doing and have the coin, you can hit those numbers.

Thanks man, the CL-S6 is my dream car. I really don't mind dropping upwards of $10k on it just to get it where I want it to be.

Though I cant be car-less for ever.. If I cant find a good CL within a month or two after I sell my current car, I'll settle for an S2K.

My accord is just as heavy as your cls i believe... 3500 full tank, full interior, and me in the car.

Just because it's a little on the heavy side for a coupe doesn't mean it can't move with 500hp. Mine isn't the typical cl it actually hooks on slicks. I'm not comparing it to gay little civics, similar cars either. As far as a NSX most likely one would cost triple the price of a cl and even more to make 500hp on a c series engine. Far from sleeper looking either! Plus I'm not really a fan of the interiors on them they looks outdated. But that's just my opinion.

That's correct. With the OEM slipping clutch and a junk single nozzle setup. Probably could of ran a low 12 if the clutch held better, on the same size shot.

I just figure if I am going to dump money into a car, why do front wheel drive?

might as well save that money get a rear wheel drive car, and mod that, but I high speed autocross so I could car less about drag racing at the moment.

Besides I like getting off the line without using slicks, r compounds tend to make that work really well, guess I am just tired of having to wait a bit longer to get on the power when using a front wheel drive car when coming out of turns.

My quickest on paper was 8.32 @84mph and my highest trap run was 8.5 @ 88.2 with no traction.
I've lost considerable weight since so it should be a bit faster.

How light was your car ?
My 60ft was 1.99 on that 8.3 run. I know I'm lighter,and I have more power.

I don't think you ran 8.3, no way, N/A.

What was your 60ft ?

I didn't buy the cl to make it a track car. Yes it's a plus they make decent power and have very reliable engines that can take a lot of abuse but that's not the sole purpose of the car for me. I bought it because it's a great daily driver, fully loaded, spacious for a coupe, rare, etc.

Maybe it's because I have multiple cars. I have a 92 mustang hatch that I'm very slowly building. It's taking a lot of time and money to get it exactly the way I want, so it still won't be running for awhile. I've actually been thinking about purchasing another foxbody coupe so I can throw something together in that and enjoy it while I build my hatch. I love the coupes and I have to have one again.

I know all about how rwd is better but when I was at the track with the cl I was able to launch off the 6k rev limiter and spray it in first gear after getting it to move out of the hole. I only love drag racing and don't care about turns at all lmao.

Another anti-fwd thread gawd. I go to auto-x and fwd cars are always some of the fastest. Z06 vettes etc getting smoked by fwd. I don't see the cornering issue you speak of. A fwd with LSD enters a corner faster and rwd usually exits faster but that is more track oriented.

With fwd you don't have to worry about losing the rear spinning and crashing like you do in rwd cars. I see a lot of crashes because bad drivers can't handle rwd. In a fwd car the front just pulls the back right back into place. So easy to do a pit maneuver on a rwd car when racing and ruin their race also.

I don't really care about drag racing in a straight line or NASCAR. I prefer cornering and braking. I think I might be the fastest in those 2 areas.

The last time attack at willow springs a fwd car was the 2nd fastest overall. Beat all the awd cars including evo's. The only car faster was a rwd nsx.

heres just a few from a couple week span

close up of the .306

I see no 8.3 slip ?

Your best slip I see is saying you went 1.99 60 8.5 @81 mph in the 1/8 and your 60ft being 1.99 means you were hooking up.

and I ran a 2.25 60 and 8.5 @88 mph in the 1/8 spinning bad in the cold.

I've ran 1.99 before and I'm sure it will consistintly run 1.9's now.

Now factor my crappy 2.25 60 to 1.9 and nothing else is left to be said.

Well maybe their is....

If we went to the same track the same day I would drive around you everytime.

Don't forget I'm even lighter than that 8.5 bad run of mine above, and add that to the top of the 60ft correction and you don't have a chance.

RP, You'll Have No Problem Beating typeR. You Have A Bigger Engine, Huge Throttle Body, And Weight Reduction. Just Got To Get Out There.

hey like they're saying get out there and get it done ... i dont care my record stood for how many years ? my cars been gone for like 7 years ... all things being equal i had a ton of work left i would have done had stock exhaust etc ...

btw there's also a light factor what were my two stronger runs there .020 and .023 the 8.3 slip disappeared because it resulted in a 13.7 at 101 hit limiter or something dont remember
