Clp limiter

Clp limiter
I have a question regarding the speed limiter in my 2003 clp. I noticed that as soon as I hit 4th gear my car doesn't accelerate as it did in 3rd gear and doesn't even engage the vtec. Is there anyway around the limiter?

You need to redline 3rd before shifting to 4th to get it to shift at a spot that wont drop out of vtec

I was racing my friends gst, and I had him until I hit 4th gear at 80ish and he started pulling on me and catching up to me and passed me. Now his car has a few bolt ons and mines stock but I am just wondering if you can tweak it or something?

There is NO limiter restricting any thing. the only limiter is the speed limiter at 149 mph.

Well from what I've heard Cls have a limiter of 150 while clp have it at 130. Also heard that there is a limiter in the clp that slows your acceleration down as it gets into the triple digits. As in you dont accelerate as fast. Now correct me if I am wrong

That would all be wrong "i heard" info.

When I had my cl-p I've done around 135mph before so I don't know what's your problem. Use the tiptronic mode and shift very close to the rev limiter.

Well when I was testing out my car I hit 130 and it felt like I was stuck there, but I didn't stay for long because i was running out of road, or maybe the power wasn't there and the car was slowly accelerating and I just didn't notice. Also I am investing money into my cl-p and i was wondering about what is better, getting a AEM CAI or a icebox?

Oh I know. I just thought there was a limiter on the clp that keep it at 130. And also yea man 4th gear is crap and th gear. But I am about to get DC headers and from there convert my clp to a type s. I have been asking questions about just doing a engine swap but no one has given me a straight foreword answer everyone I ask says you should have bought a type s but I didn't. I can find a Cls engine for cheap and al, pretty much need to know is if it's a direct fit or will I have to modify the engine and other stuff to get it to fix?

the motor may be cheap but u always need to tear it down and make sure u're putting in a good motor, plus u'll need new ecu, seats, dash cluster, sway bars and so much more. to convert ur car to a cl-s would be as much probably as u selling ur car and buying a 6 speed.
and it'll never fly in 4th gear like u want it to. my car has 230whp and it's still annoying when u get into 4th. much better now than before when it was stock but still, if u like going that fast, cl6 is the way.

both cars fuel cut is 147mph according to acura. speedo is way off at that point. Using a garming GPS I was able to hit 148.7mph and the speedo was reading 156 on a 2002 CL type S. You pretty much have to run third gear all the way to just before fuel cut to avoid the slowdown that you get when you go into 4th. From what I have seen third is good for about 120mph or 190kmh if you wind it all the way out to 7.1K before shifting (CL-S) 2nd gear is good for 79mph....WOT
5AT 1-3 are close together and 4-5 are the overdrive gears meant for fuel efficiency, not speed.
