I have a 2003 Acura cl-p and I was wondering how easy it would be to do a engine swap, and put a type-s engine into my Acura? Can someone explain how difficult it might be?Also the cost it would be, because I can find a type s engine with all working parts and it also comes complete for under 1000 dollars. But I am unsure if I would need a new transmission or things like that to do this swap. So can anyone explain if it's doable or not?

I can drive a stick but where I live there are only few type-s for sales and they want like 10k and they are autos. All I want to know is that has it been done before?

You would need a type-S engine, wiring harness and ECU. You would need the keys and remotes as they are programmed to the engine. Or, just keep your TL-P and put headers on it, a cold air intake and UR light weight crank pulley and enjoy life for about $600. Those mods alone will get you close to type-S power.

Like others have said just sell your CL-P and get a type S if all the cars in your area are out of your range then look for a deal out of the area and be patient. Doing all the mods like changing the engine and other bolt-ons isn't going to be cheap so if your going to be spending thousands anyway you might as well just sell yours and get an S.

Most of the differences between CL-P and CL-S won't matter for a heavy modder. The suspension and exhaust will be replaced with aftermarket anyway.

Getting a Type-S engine isn't a bad investment, especially since they can be purchased for very reasonable prices nowadays.

True, but those items still need to be replaced on the base CL-P. And swapping the motor over will cost quite a bit.

Engine, ecu, harness - ~$1000
Exhaust - ~$750
Intake - ~$200
Gauge Cluster - $60 on eBay
Fluids - ~$100
Control box for the IABs - ? (its not run directly from the ECU, there is a control unit under the dash)
Labor - ????

I purposefully left the suspension out of that list since technically its optional. Thats at least $2000 in parts, and Im sure AT LEAST another $500 in labor, but most likely more. It would also be a good time to replace the timing belt since the motor is already out of the car, which is about $250 in parts, spark plugs are another $60 and the rear main seal should be replaced for good measure - all not including labor charges.

You can sell your CL-P and use that additional money for the swap towards a proper CL-S (or a better car).

I just dont see a point in swapping the A2 into a CL-P. The CL-P is 40lbs less then the CL-S automatic (2001). I can understand if it was a 200lb difference, but 40 pounds is the passenger seat.

Which brings me to my next point.

OP - If you want to be just as fast as a stock CL-S, either do Chuck said or just strip everything out of the car. Weight reduction is free

It adds up to way more than just buying Type S first. Then you can still do that same mods on the Type S and see more power. Wait for the right deal to come along out of state. They were all ten grand for the Slushboxes around here too, so I waited and went to Ohio and pair less than 8g for a 6 speed.

Back to what chuck said, about the headers, CAI. what band should I get of both? And what about exhaust, is the exhaust worth buying as well? If si what brand?

Slap a 01 mdx or oddey in there $ call it a day same price more TQ less headache

Exhaust will give little to no gains. Not sure of the brand of headers, but an AEM cold air intake and UR light weight crank pulley will do wonders. Change out the tranny fluid to synthetic and you are good to go.
