CL to BMW, it just doesn't matter.
For those of you who know the trials and tribulations that I went through with on the CL will know that my luck was bad and maybe just pertained to the CL-S.
But today a Nissan Versa from oncoming traffic decided to try to make a left hand turn across the highway in front of me in my 335 and cause a head the two of us to get into an accident. Im probably looking to be near $15-20K in damage but the adjuster will look at it on Monday, so that should be fun.
Either way, just drive safe and be cautious, I remember my first accident in the CL-S, it held up like a pro, probably as good as the 335 and the CL is 8 years older. That says something about Acura safety.

Thanks, just sucks, least when I had the accident with the CL-S it was all cosmetic rear end damage.
Ha, it was funny when my mom called she said, "Billy, with all these things that have been happening, are you going to church. And maybe you shouldn't be driving anymore." lol.
Leave it to a mom to preach in a time of anguish even when I wasn't at fault.. Either way, gotta love your mom.

Ya, loved the 335. It drove great and the acceleration was ridiculous especially after the tune. I had not one issue with the car despite all the gripes online about the HPFP and all the other things. What sucks is I have a custom order of AST 4100 coilovers being made for the car since it's awd and they are suppose to be done at the end of January.
As for the car, you betcha I hope it's totaled. There is most likely structural damage, the picture sucks because it was from a camera phone but the passenger side door wouldn't open. Also, the front tire is pushed back about a foot and most likely busted up a lot of tranny/transfer case items. If it wasn't awd, I bet the damage might not have been as bad.
Either way, I know it's probably not going to be enough for a total loss. For a total loss, the damage would most likely need to be in excess of $25k and it's just not going to be that high.
Once again, im going to be stuck trusting a shop to manhandle my car. It's so depressing how I have no faith in any mechanics/bodyshops.

I just don't know how they determine extensive damage that is unseen. I just worry about the engine/transmission/suspension. I wish it was just body damage, that is somewhat easy and doesn't really effect the integrity of the vehicle.
I just love this color combo but don't want to keep the car if the damage is going to really bad. If the insurance company doesn't offer to make me a hefty payment for diminished value then I'm not going to approve any work on the car and take necessary action.

Also if u get to talk to the adjuster, let him know straight up u dont want this car any more, it wont have the originality, its depreciated, and wont feel the same, you dont wanna deal wiht the headache of minor details not done right after the car's been fixed etc..
but make sure u let the insurance fix the car where they want to, not where you want to. because in the end, if they make u keep the car and fix it, and it doesnt come out right, they can say "well you picked the shop"

keep us posted, glad the cars (and you) held up just fine.
I am not sure at what point it would be considered a liability to fix the car...at some point they look at more than just what the car is worth vs. how much to fix.
If they total it, E92 M3 is next. I can sense it.

Wow. That sucks!
With your luck I'd forget all the cars & drive a mid 90's F150 on 35's. Then if anyone hit you again they would be the ones hurting.
My mom is the same way with cars. Had a Altima, was totaled from a rear end accident. Shortly after had a Corolla, totaled after someone ran a red light. Cars before always had problems with the trans, or head gaskets, or minor fender benders that all weren't her fault.

Eh, as for whats next, Im not even sure. It'd be different if I had the car for 3 years because I might have been getting a little tired of it. But I only have had it for about 3 months and still had a blast driving it everyday.
I don't even want to speculate as to what I'm going to do next till I get a chance to speak with the adjuster on Monday.
As for the new M3, it's a great car, but Im a fan of AWD even though I know that's not a true enthusiasts car.

Mind if I ask what the airbags felt like when they went off? I never got in a head-on and I've heard some people that got hurt by them (black eyes, etc).

Damn dude. I saw the title and I really didnt want to open this thread.
Are you ok? What about the other driver? It sucks that this happened, but you're still here and thats the important part.
I honestly hope they total it. I wouldnt want to continue driving a car that took that much damage.

No offense to anyone who may have been given a black eye by an airbag but if that happened then that means theyre not sitting right in their seat. The steering wheel is suppose to be aimed at your chest for the exact reason like u said bout the airbag. But when it came out it seriously felt like a heavyweight punched me in the chest. I also got an airbag burn on my right arm. We both had our seatbelts on and the windshield crack was also from the airbag so that tells you something about the force

Oh yeah, try the best you can to get them to total it. My uncle had a 1 series 6 months old & it was recently crashed by a red light runner. Damage was in the $22K range, they tried to fix it & he had to fight it. It's a BMW. The car isn't worth anything after it gets fixed. Unless it leased.

Maybe you should drive an old Chrysler or a Dodge or something until your bad luck with cars gets reversed.
Chances are that fool thought you were going to slow down for them, even though they had to yield to you. I've run into those types. People get too irritated from having to wait at a stop sign during rush hour traffic, so they just belt out onto the road, expecting people to make way for them.

The other witness was a male who also was on my side claiming that there was no way in hell that I could have avoided the accident.
After all was said and done, the officer who was interviewing the two witnesses came over to the reporting officer and suggested that the man who hit me be charged with "failing to yield to oncoming traffic"
All in all, this should be a slam dunk insurance case but that's just the beginning of headaches.

It'll be my adjuster. His insurance is Erie.
As for his info you gotta love the digital age. He has a unique name and I was able to find out a good amount about him in bout 10 minutes. He's probably 22, a male and a computer information science major going to a local college. He wasn't really an ass because he was aware he was in the wrong. I mean he made a dumb mistake but this is probably going to cost his insu7rance company in excess of 50k when all is said and done between our two cars and medical costs. I just hope he doesn't have state minimum coverage because no one should be put behind the eight hall like that right out of college
