Checking up on some TL information for a friend.

A friend of mine is thinking about getting into a new TL. Do any of you all know anyone that has done so? Essentially I'm wondering what the current dealer disposition is in terms of MSRP and discounts, if any. Will he have to pay sticker, or do you think it'll be possible to get some sort of discount?

Carsdirect is quoting about $1000 under MSRP, so I'm sure there's discounts to be had.

I know in my area the new TL is not selling well at all. I see very, very few of them on the road, and a drive by any local Acura dealer shows anywhere from 4-10 TLs sitting on the lot, so if it's like that in your area they'll definitely negotiate.

Around here I have only seen one that wasn't on a dealer lot

Correction, the new TL is selling ALOT more than the older one. Look at the latest sales figures from Acura.

It's possible that nationwide they may be doing OK.. but in my area... they're just sitting on the lots, and they have been there since the launch (and we're not even having a bad winter at all).

Cool.
Thanks for the info, guys. I'm guessing that right now he should be able to get $1000 off sticker.

I don't know how bad they are doing in the NJ area. The dealer I go to is using them as loaner cars, I got one with 56miles on it last week. It is a good plan since the president of my company has to get his wife to approve the purchase. I think his words were something like "your doing 95 and it feels like your doing 40".

Are there any particular plusses and minuses that you have noticed so far? Did you have a CL before? How does it compare? My friend is particularly intrigued by the feature that allows you to "swap" a cell phone call from your phone to the car (or something along those lines).

That's the new Bluetooth feature. A ton of new cars are now offering, although the TL was one of the first, and the first to offer it standard. It's funny b/c I was pricing out a Dodge SRT-4 for shits and giggles and that car even had Bluetooth as an option... so everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. Just make sure your friend realizes he'll need to upgrade to a Bluetooth compatible phone, otherwise, it won't work for him.
