Car stalled 5 times

I was on my way to work and the first 5 times I came to a stop the needle came down smoothly all the way to 0. I've always had the problem of a short hesitation in the morning and they said it was just a thing in the warmup sequence. But what the hell, 5 stalls? I was planning on going to Pittsburgh from Dearborn MI (Home of Ford Motors), but if it keeps acting up at lunch I don't plan on chancing it.

2003 CL Type-S 6speed
17500 miles

Previous repairs:
-New Clutch, 2nd and 4th gear synchros at about 7k for 2nd gear grinding and 4th gear missing

-New Throttle Body at about 3k when I first complained about the hesitation... performance wasn't linear per their tests.

I already had an appointment for Monday because I have some rattles and my brake feel isn't consistent and I'm getting the same transmission behavior I was getting the first time they fixed it. I have my V1 hardwired in like Shawn S into the 12 fuse. Should I remove it before I take it in?

I highly doubt it you will need to remove your radar.

Sounds like a you got a Lemon..

Was you car brand new or a dealer car?

Are you at all comfortable under the hood??

If so, pull the IAC connector and start it up. It should run at a rather high RPM.

If you need to go on the trip there is one thing you could do to help your situation. You could turn the idle adjustment screw counterclockwise about one turn and try it out.

Otherwise, wait until Monday to let the dealer take care of it.

The grinds I get aren't really the kind that I hear. They tend to just feel bad. Not so smooth. I never used to notice it in 5th and 6th (those gears don't have the multi-cone synchros), but now I am, which is making me think my clutch is worse than the first time this happened, it's also started to affect my third gear downshifts... So we'll just wait and see, hopefully they don't try and slap me with a clutch replacement charge... They've done everything under warrantee before. I'll keep y'all informed.

They didn't find anythign wrong with my brakes or clutch.... I'll wait 'til I get back to Seattle, it gets decently cold at night there. Also, they fixed all my rattles, no prob.

I took it to suburban. I can drive a stick! I've put 20k on this car and 5k on my sister's Si. But I think I diagnosed the problem.... Dirty air filter. I never replaced it. When I took it out at 20k it was chock full of bugs. Probably from the 2500 mile trips to Michigan from Seattle and back. Stupid Stupid Stupid

Sounds like the IAC is faulty to me .The idle system is pretty striaghtforward in these cars .Most Idle problems are traceable to the IAC crapping out .

my name is Jim Roy

I also own a new Cl-S 6-speed. bought it with 20 miles in it. I have 20000 miles on it now but only 5000 of those are city miles. the rest are cruising in 6th between Birmingham AL and Baton Rouge LA. my transmission syncros failed on 2nd and third gear as well and the mechanic who worked on the car told me that he had no idea why they wore out and that he could not guarentee that it wouldnt happen again. he said there were zero signs of abuse they just wore out. now on the thread you posted I am seeing your syncros and others have worn out. what the hell gives!! Did we get screwed on our transmssions as well. I am so f'n pissed to hear about others having trouble as well. I just dont know what the hell I will do if my car turns out to be a POS. I dont know if I am mentaly prepared for this.

On top of all of this crap. every once in a while my early morning cold start and sometimes warm start idle sounds like the motor is going to stall when I blip the throttle before I even put it in gear. lukily it has only happened about 15 times since i have had the car, never resulting in a stall.

Please I need support here!!!!

I haven't experienced any problems with the syncro's thus far. Or maybe I am just numb to it. I have just shy of 13k miles on the car but with significant power being applied; well over stock.

As for the drop in revs, it sounds like the infamous IAC vale which should be a warranty item.

A handfull (less then 5) does not constuite a 6 speed tranny problem. Lets make it 5. That's still only .02% of the 2700 6 speeds out there.

how many of the 2700 are on the board? is 2700 the for sure number?

.02% really isn't valid. You'd have to compare total number of 6MT users on here to the 6 that have complained.

Definetly some sort of issue with the same parts. Might be installation, or quality of the specific parts.

Wierd indeed. I hope everyone gets their car fixed correctly...

Did they replace just the TPS or the entire Throttle Body?? I think the 6-speeds have an issue with the TPS... but that is adjustable AND it affects idle - I posted on this a while ago, you may want to take a look.

On the tranny side... I get a 2nd gear grind once in a way... but cuz I didn't press the clutch all the way down

Whoa shit, I've been away too long. IAC, I'll check that out, sounds like all you are pointing to that. As for rattles, let me see. I think the following are rattling:

My sunroof
My passenger visor
a panel near my left ear
the rear sill

They're all over the fucking place. I'm almost out of school for christmas break, I'm gonna leave my car at the dealer for a few days and say, iron all this shit out.

As for the throttle body, they said the throttle position sensor was out and they ordered a new throttle body if I remember right, so they replaced the whole thing.

Thanks Jens, I'll look into the IAC valve issue.

Sunroof.
Known easy fix.

The rear sill.
Seems like another common one.

Panel near left ear.
I had this one -My $tealer rebuilt the area but its really under the plastic cover that holds the seat belt. The play built into it so the thing can move is the issue. I used caulk, it still can move and it's quiet now.

Not sure on the visor issue.
