Am I being ripped off??

Hello,
in Jan of this year I bought Acura 3.2 CL-S 6mt. it had 185k miles.
after buying it, it started making a chirping/squeaking sound when clutch was NOT engaged. Upon engagement, the sound goes away.
additionally, it has gotten increasingly difficult to shift the car into first or reverse. It takes ALOT of force and does not feel good.
The dealer where I bought the car replaced the clutch.
i took it to a local transmission shop, and he said the transmission is toast, needs this that and synchro. He wants $2500... im
pretty sure he is trying to gyp me. Anyone know if this is a serious problem worth the replacement of
the whole unit, or could replacing key parts also fix the issue?? Google tells me it's done bearings inside the tranny.

Help!

if the throwout bearing in the clutch wasnt replaced when the clutch was installed, that could very well be your noise...because that's exactly the symptoms of a bad throwout bearing

What about the difficult shifting? The inability to shift into 1st or reverse. There's too much resistance. When the engine is off, the tranny shifts like butter

you can try changing the fluid.
if that doesnt resolve it, maybe the synchros are failing.
you can rebuild the synchros.

and the last resort would be tranny swap.
but you could get a junk yard tranny for cheap.

Ughhhh I love this car, but I think I'm gonna get rid of it. I can't afford to continue fixing it.

that's all cars,man.

cars are machines. if a part wears out, it needs to be replaced.
$2500 is a lot cheaper than a brand new $30k car

Ill have to make a decision. I've replaced so much on this car. Would hate to do half or about the same to the next used car I buy. Sigh...

Right... I bought the car for 4000 in January. Then I've spent about a grand in
getting a lot done like timing belt water pump tires alignment fluids changed. New battery...
y would I sell it for a 1000?

lol it was a joke, buying it for $1k

but yes, all that maintenance is apart of car ownership.
if you purchase another car for $4k, there's NO telling how much more $ you'll put into it.

They are great cars. You already took care of a biggy with the timing belt. At this point my advice would be to see what other issues are going to be coming up. Are there maintenance records from previous owners? With 180k on it, they have probably already taken care of some of the peripherals, PS pump, radiator etc. Also, you may have no choice but to fix it as not many folks will buy it with that big of an issue at a price where you break even. There are usually a couple 03 CL6's on autotrader with under 100K on them for 8000 or so. Anyway assuming there are not other big issues, I think fix it, drive it long enough to recoup your expenses and then reevaluate at that time. All imho. Hope it works out for you. Edit: There are a bunch of "you shoulda" things to say about the purchase but that won't help you so I am just trying to give an objective opinion for where you are now and moving forward.

thank you for your response.
I really want to keep it for my car collection.
Its really powerful, bone stock, I've yet to lose a race.
the ps pump was changed when I got it.
Not sure about radiator. Alternator looks orig.

im not sure when the tranny will fail, I drove it all across the eastern seaboard for the last 5k miles after I bought it.

Once upon a time, I had an '89 Nissan Pulsar that had these same issues. A new throwout bearing cured it all.
