Aftermarket Navi System

I installed a real nice aftermarket Navi in my 2000 Chevy truck. It has gps, am/fm radio, cd and dvd player, back up camera. Got me wondering if there is an aftermarket Navi System like that for a 2001 CL? Mine didn't have a factory Navi sistem.
Anyone know of one?

Pretty much any double DIN radio setup with nav will work. Mine has factory nav but same idea.

Any double DIN. I have a Pioneer AppRadio and it works great.

Reading the notes on Crutchfield, I see the onboard nav will stop working after you replace the factory radio. Do you just use that screen for the AC or fan speed now? Also, is having to look that far down and away from the road weird/scary/dangerous for you? Right now I use a CupFone for nav (on my phone), but when I go on longer trips (ie across the state of VA) I tend to use the onboard nav since it's volume control is independent from my music's. I'd assume changing out the factory radio would mean that the new GPS voice wouldn't be independent anymore.

I guess the biggest question I have is simply if you recommend it.

The factory navigation continues to work though. I have a Pioneer AppRadio installed in place of the factory radio and the factory navi still works fine (minus no voice directions but their directions were absolute trash so that's no loss).

Changing the factory means you lose steering wheel controls of the radio. There are adaptors to fix that but they run $80 so they're not worth it for most.

You also lose the factory navigation voice through the speakers.

I have no issues looking down at the stereo for directions when driving. With voice guidance from nearly every navigation app these days, it's less needed.

That's a shame about the controls. I'd probably shell out the $80 to fix it though, as I use those on almost every drive I take. I'll look into the Pioneer AppRadio. Thanks!

probably a combination of things:

Navi to amp: pretty standard: mutes amp with one connection, sends audio signal through another
Navi to climate control: yes, custom: it sends/receives a clocked signal to communicate and receive data between the navi screen and the climate control for those special controls (mode, fan speed and ac compressor on/off)
Audio to amp: pretty standard for audio signal for at least the subwoofer some here retain subwoofer control by sending the subwoofer pre-out audio from their new head unit to the stock amp which works, similar solution will probably work for the other 4 channels?
