Personally I'm partial to the CL only b/c I do not like the look of the Accord that much. It's growing on me slowly.. but not enough to consider owning one....

CLS6 all the way. Why, I personally think it looks better and there are more mods available for it. Accord might have more features but CLS interior is pretty damn nice!

ACCORD!!!!!!! not as many people have it and the luxury on it is amazing!!!!! i think the times on the CL-S and accord are similar not to sure though and there will prolly be alot more mods coming for the accord than the CL-S so keep that in mind too. but really your getting the same car just different look....i still love the CL-S dont get me wring fellas just wanted to go against the majority LOL

Will there be mods for the accord? Isn't the manifold welded onto the engine? doesn't that make it more difficult to do anything from headers to FI? I'm sure someone will figure something out but there doesn't seem to much going on right now for it.

ferizzo i think your right and that will make it harder but im pretty sure a lot more things will be coming if you think about it accords and civics have always had more mods available for them than most cars. im just making that assumption based on the past....

Dynos are not higher on the Accord and it is not faster, I wish people would quit saying that.
I've seen both at the track and have yet to see any 7th gen beat a CL-S 6 speed.

If the 2003/2004 Accord Coupe 6spd had the same HP/TQ as the 2003 CL-S 6spd, I would honestly say the Accord Coupe looks hotter, but since you get the extra HP/TQ from the CL-S, get that or find something else in your price range...... try for the G35 Coupe.

well if you'd like to mod your car more then go for the Accord. They'll have a bigger aftermarket than us in no time. The CL-S is nicer in my opinion and is more rare.

CL-S, the back is nicer, Acura vs Honda is comparing Lexus to Toyota, the same but the 1st is always better and more prestige. I'd rather drive a CL-S where you don't see much of it than every one and their mom and dads have accords. You see a pimped out Accord and go oooh nice, you see a pimped out CL-S and you go OOOHH NIIIIIICE!!!

accord dude. its just as fast, if not faster. its Navi is LIGHTYEARS beyond the navi in the CL. the accord will have TONS more aftermarket support than the CL could ever hope for, the accord dash layout is very much as stylish, if not more stylish than the CL. the CL is a cancelled, discontinued car. service, dealer labor rates, and parts for honda are cheaper than that of acura. the accord is a NEW platform, the CL is based on the OLD generation accord.
the cl has HID's, better leather....and...an acura badge...other than that, the accord has one-upped the CL in every way.

The dyno is a fact though. Go to av6.com or one of the other Accord sites and look at some dyno graphs. Stock for stock they're dynoing the same or higher then the CL-S. I've seen dynos range from 226hp/200tq for the manual, to low 200's(around 205hp) for the auto. Those numbers are almost identical to the CL, and the Accord is about 150lbs lighter.
So people are saying that b/c those are the facts. Once the new TL comes out... Acura will be back ahead.... it's just a minor overlap which happens from time to time....

I have a CLS 6-spd and ran a 14.61 with a icebox cai @ 87deg and very humid, but i would really think about the accord because they will be making more aftermarket parts for a car that is still in production, but don't forget that you could probley get a used 6-spd for 25K or so!

Even though the cl is being discontinue I still say go with the cl. I've seen to many accord on the road already. Plus the guy on the bimmer site got a 14.1 in his wife's cltypeS 6speed.

Was in market for these two last fall. what made me choose CL-S:
-most powerful fwd V-6 honda has ever built
-limited slip differential
-classier styling-lower beltline,tasteful chrome.
will age well
-xenon headlamps
-titanium trim is metal not plastic
-more comfortable rear seating. larger rear windows
-better warranty
-best handling fwd car C&D has ever tested,
7\02
-auto press rates it only a couple of points lower than standard bearer-3 series, for 8-10k less
-dealer gave me a good price.accord available only at msrp. wanted 2k over list back in 1/03 at one dealer

My navi is better than the accord except for the voice still mine recalculates faster and gets updated annually. I can watch movies in Dolby pro logic while I drive and work the navi while Im driving....not only that but the new Alpine software 2.0 that has over 11 million points of interest....I dont know but the Cl-S can almost rock the shit outta of the new accord if you ask me.

Juniorbean,
Torquaholic's 7th gen Accord w/Injen CAI & 93 octane only pulled 193 whp, Sonorkid's 2001 Cl Type S w/ Comptech Icebox pulled 210 whp, same dyno , same conditions , both SAE corrected.
I have also personally seen a stock 6 speed 7th gen Accord w/93 octane pull 212 whp on that same dyno. I think the 6 speed cl pulls 220 whp?
These are #s that I have actually witnessed on a dynojet dyno.
So IMO I think both versions (auto and manual) Cl Type S's are faster than their counter parts.
Also having watched both Torquy's car and sonorkid's car at the track all summer , I can honestly say that the Cl is an average .2 seconds faster with the same traps. Torq's best time ever was a 14.79 in 25 degree temps, sonorkid has pulled a 14.50 in 70 degree temps with ONLY Icebox.
Bottom line , stock for stock or equally modded, the Cl Type S is faster , more comfortable, classier, and better looking than ANY generation Accord. I wish I had invested all my cash in a Cl Type S instead of my Accord.

anyone with money can buy a nice AFTERMARKET navi and sound system, and other nice electronics. i think most people are comparing them stock for stock.

either C&D is smoking crack, or you have your information wrong. were they testing it with cars in its own class? there are more than a number of fwd cars i can think of that would tear the cl-s up in handling. i.e.- ITR
the cl-s handles better than average for a car like that, but it's certainly not the best handling car ever...unless that's the only fwd car C&D has tested. LOL

A coworker just bought the Accord and I didn't drive it but sat in it and it just doesn't feel/look as good or as quality as the CLS. The V6 EX 6spd doesn't even have memory seats!
