i have heard that the acura cl- taction control only works below 18 mph..once over the 18 mph..the traction control is useless..but how about the vehicle stability??is it all speed or just as same as below 18 mph..and how does it work? or the 18 mph traction only work on normal cl..but not type s..so confusing....and worry...but my friend's 328 ci traction is all speed...

Pretty sure that the Traction control on the CL-P only works at low speeds, where as the Vehicle Stability Assistance on the CL-S works all the time, unless you turn it off.

I did a little “test” just for you this morning.

The industrial park that I work in doesn’t believe in plowing the roads curb-to-curb.
There is a 5-foot wide patch of snow and ice on either side of the traveled width of the road.

This morning I was driving down the road at about 25MPH and I pulled onto the ice with my passenger side tires only and FLOORED IT.
There was a second of wheel spin and then the VSA light began flashing and the engine power was automatically reduced.

This brings up another interesting question......

In a situation like I described, will the traction control direct the power to the wheel that has the most grip or will it just reduce the engine output to reduce wheel spin all together ???

It is snowing right now again so I may be able to do more “testing” on the way home tonight.

I think it does both: apply brake thru the ABS system on the wheel that spins, and at the same time reduce engine output...

Yeah, it's coming down pretty good here. This will be the first time I've driven in the white stuff with my new CL-S. I avoided it with last weekend's storm.

I don't think Traction Control will transfer power to the "gripping" tires. However, I don't know much about the VSA system...
