2003 CL/type S auto convert to 6 speed

how difficult would the conversion of auto to 6 speed be on an '03 Cl? Thinking of option because of likelyhood of auto trans failure. I suppose the interior console would also have to be changed out and where in the world would you find a 'new' one?

Extremely difficult. It would be better/faster/cheaper to fix your car, sell it, and buy another one with a manual transmission.

It's not that difficult. But if you had to ask without searching, then I doubt your resourceful enough to do it yourself.

Best bet would be to find a 6spd parts car.

I am also curious about doing this swap. What all goes into it? Just drop in the swap, install the clutch pedal with clutch reservoir and switch out the wire harness with ecu?

Of the probably hundreds that have asked this question, less than 10 have done it.

You're going to spend more on parts to do it in most cases than just buying a 6-speed CL-S. Add in the cost of labor and other issues you're likely to run into and you're going to pay a lot more to do the conversion than just buy a 6-speed.

There are other automatic transmissions you can replace it with which don't have the issues of the CL-S auto-tragic. Search the forums for recommendations there as they simply require much more basic swapping than that of switching to a 6-speed.

It cost me about $2500 in labor for Type S engine and trans. I had a donor car though, all the necessary parts were already there. Mine went into my 99 TL.

Honestly with how cheap these cars are going for these days, you're better off just buying a 6-speed car. I got my second '03 CL with a stick for around $3k early last year.

As I stated in your 'Issue shifting into 5th and 6th' thread, that was one heck of a pick-up.

Speaking of another great pick-up.

You're not going to let the Padre get away with not installing that blower kit you procured recently (at least trying for 30 days)? Or is piecing the needed parts together presenting a challenge?

I'm in the process of swapping my auto tl-s to 6speed. I bought a donor cl-s 6peed to rob all the parts from its quite extensive tho!

Go check out my thread in the 2nd gen tl section for pics and info

I'm up over $5k on my Odyssey swap. Of course that includes the Odyssey and a complete but wrecked CL-S for parts. Just get a used CL-S and save the money.
