2003 CL Stroker
I have been running my CLS6 for about a year now 170k , only catless and air intake , upgraded springs and lightweight rockers in the head. The previous owner had the clutch replaced , upon inspection there is a broken ear on the bellhousing and it is JB welded to the block. I plan on getting crower cams and an AEM ecu setup in the future. Im thinking that instead of dealing with the pain in the ass of resealing the transmission when it comes clutch time , I could get a j35a3 block from a MDX and a new bell housing , and still be able to use my J32 heads . I have done a bit of research on Acurazine and it looks like this is my best option. I am looking to see if anybody has any input on better options or issues with my idea. Thank you in advance.

Will j32 Crower Cams fit the j35 heads? or will my j32 heads fit the j35a3 block? , also wondering about harness compatibility . Am I best off finding a specialty wiring harness to suit the AEM? . I apologize for all the questions . Im 19 and haven't done much major work on Hondas. Thanks

Straight from P2R's webpage with said cams:
'These camshafts will fit J30A4, J30A5, J32A1, J32A2, J32A3, J35A3, J35A4, J35A8.'

Just an FYI, at one time Boomslang offered an AEM 6051 2001-2003 Acura Manual Transmission harness, it was like $300-400 IIRC'ly. You'd have to inquire to see if they still make them.

my question is why crower cams? my understanding is they're regrinds. and why aem standalone? it takes some mods to run on a 6spd, either at sensors and harness or adapter harness as zeta mentioned, and opening up the aem and switching some jumpers. are you going fi? if you search around you can find a post i think brian6speed where he only made like 2- 3hp from a tune. he was j32a2 with bolt ons iirc. not saying a tune is bad, just that most of the 2g guys running j35 blocks get by with a stock ecu. you may have seen, there's a lot of discussions for j35 on 2g cl and 2g tl. i'm wrapping up mine soon. but 3.5 builds are so common its nothing special.
found it, post 1279:

Thank you for the Input. I have had good experiences with AEM Ecus and Crower Cams in my Camaro, so I assumed that would follow suit in my CL . I plan on driving it in the summer and keeping my daily , I was just hoping for a power increase with the cams and possibly boost in the future, I'm looking for a reliable project while I work on my other cars. Just want something to have some fun with. I didn't know if the stock ecu could handle everything that boosting your car entails so I thought AEM. What would you suggest as an alternative setup? I know someone with a CL block and could get a bellhousing and just stick to J32. Thanks.

Nice!
Now is this on your 'swapped' SC'ed Accord or the CL-S6?

I am glad to hear suggestions from people who have more experience. I just want to slowly dump money into this car over the next few years so no real budget in mind. I assumed Cams and valve train upgrades $1500 , ECU / wiring $2000 (would be cool if cheaper) . Block / Crank $1000 Clutch Kit $800. Definitely thinking of turbo for boost ill have to figure that out later. My friend wants $200 for his CLS block with 120k on it so thinking of getting that and swapping crank and pistons instead ( just need to find a good bellhousing) . Also know someone with a lathe and flow master who could hone the head and intake manifold after cams. If I kept the 32 block and swapped pistons would or can I remap my stock ECU ?Any input is helpful.

I've used fic a long time ago, for a 2jzge in a lexus. It ran lean with an upgraded intake. So i tried to richen up the map. Long story short, it would run okay at mild throttle, but if you mashed the gas it hesistated and misfired. I ended up selling it and using an afc neo. commanded the map +20% and it ran good. Granted I've seen some old posts were people used emanage or fic, but no idea what afr they were running.

Piggybacks have limited tuning, you're essentially manipulating signals to the stock ecu. usually a maf or map signal, and some variable valve timing signals. The stock ecu will still try to correct the a/f ratio. so you can balance out the a/f to stock level around 14.7:1 but it will fight to compensate for rich or lean a/f ratios. aka short term and long term fuel trim if you watch live data.

Right, it wires in line with the map signal and keeps the voltage from exceeding the ecu's maximum threshold before a fault would be triggered. In other words clamping the voltage. On my car I run an apexi afc vafc2 atm. I can manipulate the fuel +/- 50% at varying rpm points for low cam and high cam (vtec) operation. But, its also wired inline with the map signal. I'm still limited to the max voltage from the ecm. surprisingly after going 3.5, it runs a bit rich, at least at idle. Took out about 10% at 800 rpm to bring the fuel trim closer to 0. Haven't made any other adjustments.
