BMW's are plain jane cars until you spend and extra $20k to make it a real car. It's the same today. Acura > BMW. Acura provides a little bit of everything, and does everything well without excelling in one area. So you get power, comfort, handling, looks, technology all in one car.

The messed up thing is that they compared it to a 2000 328...not a 2001 330...that's pretty and :ghey: if you ask me.

^ The BMW was already $6,500 more expensive. Throwing the 2001 330 would push that mark a few G's higher making the comparison very lopsided.

Power for one. Plus the same features have a ridiculous premium over the cost of the Acura.

Plus the CL has better braking, slalom, skipad performance, and fuel economy than the 328.

he said "Acura provides a little bit of everything", as does the BMW. Not saying the BMW beats it in those areas...but you're still getting power, comfort, handling, looks, and especially technology.

Article is a fun read for a CL owner. I like the nostalgia feeling, this article came out the summer before my sophomore year (2000) in high school. Wouldn't have thought i'd have a CL at 21 back then, funny.

The comparison in power is lopsided as hell. It's really not a great match up at all. Even if you added all the options in the beamer to catch up what the Acura has stock, you'd be pushing mid 40s any way.

You don't get as much of what the Acura offers. You pay more for it. You spend more maintaining it. At least the only problem with the Acura is the tranny problem. BMW's are known for everything on the damn car to screw up. Acura was nice to warranty the tranny for 7yrs 109k.

I don't see the point in owning a BMW besides saying "I have a BMW"
This is just my opinion. I also don't want to buy a car and then add 6 packages to get it where I want it.

Not true, under warranty w/ the BMWs you dont pay for brakes, oil changes, window regulators, etc. nothing. And also, not true. The only ones really known for "everything screweing up" is the 02 E65 7-series.

Since when is Acura's "only problem" their tranny, and since when are BMW's known for "everything on the damn car" screwing up??

I chose my CL-S over a 330i, but will still gladly admit that the BMW is a better driver's car.

Since I cannot edit..

IMO the big points the Acura has over the BMW are reliability and value. I knew this going into my purchase 2 years ago and am still happy with my decision. I do not claim it is something more than it is, and as a result it meets all my expectations.

Being a previous bimmer owner, all I can say is that good luck when you do the "trade up" as you mentioned, and say hello to expensive parts and everything else associated with the mark. Just my ....

IMO the two most important aspects in buying a car. Not to mention it outperforms the BMW as well. Repair costs are lower and less frequent.
