2001 Acura Cl Type S Totaled

How much is a realistic appraisal? It was loaded with Nav and everything...just got new tires a few months ago. They wanted to offer 7,800 but that is nothing...what is a realistic amount?

72000 miles

You can buy Type S CL's pretty cheap if you look around. Your not going to get top retail value for an almost 9 year old CL.

2001 Acura 3.2CL Type-S Coupe 67,800 miles $8400

If you can get more than $8,000 for it, take it and run cause that's a steal...

7800 seems fair... run the numbers on Kbb.com, nada.com etc...

It's a discontinued coupe with tranny issues... not much resale value there...

Even 03's with average mileage are $8-10K... You could take the 8K from them and buy another CL... and a newer one at that...

That certainly seems fair, however if u recently spent money as u mentioned tires, try submitting the receipts and ur Insurance may consider reimbursing u..
Worth trying..But I've done that in the past.

shoot for 8G's ... honestly it is almost impossible to recover costs for anything added... even tires... less than one week after almost $1000 in tires, my wife's truck was totaled when a guy t-boned her and we recovered ZERO dollars from the insurance company... you might be able to sell them and recover a few bucks...

Ya, don't forget that they should also owe you tax on that amount because in my area 7% X $7,800 would be an extra $546 in your pocket.

You can negotiate a little bit with them. Most insurance companies take 3 sources and come out with an average.

1.) Real life prices - (The insurance company looks on autotrader and places like that and looks for cars similar to yours)
2.) Nada Black Book Retail value (Depending on the condition of your car, most will give you the benefit of the doubt and give you excellent, thats what Geico did for my fiancee.)
3.) I forget the last one, i think it's some kind of Insurance appraiser application that the companies use.

They calculate these 3 and come up with an average. You can negotiate but don't expect it to be more than a couple hundred bucks from their original offer.

Good luck

I ran the numbers on Kbb.com and Nada and if your vehicle was excellent condition on private party or trade in value it ranged btw $9300 and $8850 the retail values are obviously more but the insurance companies aren't going to pay you on the retail value so their irrelevant. Keep in mind I used my zip code in Socal and chances are yours is different and that factors in the value somehow. Ask the adjuster to show you how they came up with that amount and go over it and make sure they are counting everything you have like the Navi etc. Ask for as much as you can within reason the worst they can say is no but I wouldn't accept $7800. Also if you purchased the vehicle from the dealer with any modifications then they should be paying for those also because you purchased it that way. Good luck with your claim
