2001 Acura CL-S JDM Transmission swap

After all these transmission issues everyones been experiencing I started looking at options for a bad tranny on a 01 CL-S and found some used JDM models for the same year and make and model. My mechanic (very good one) is convinced that the JDM part will not work due to a speed sensor being external on the JDM version. Has anyone tried this or even have ideas on if the JDM is supposed to work. All the JDM companies i've called are convinced that it will work just find on a US DM version CL-S but their motive is to sell parts im assuming. I'm also wondering who all these people that are buying JDM CL transmissions and what car they are using them on. Check out the pic of the part that would hold up a tranny swap.

First, I can't answer your question in regards to the use of a (did not even know they existed?) JDM auto CL tranny over the problematic DM CL auto tranny, because I drive a 6-speed.

However, it would be interesting to know what the price difference would be for a JDM auto CL tranny and the 'tested, tried and true', readily available AV6 auto tranny that everyone seems to agree is the best recourse?

You posted the inquiry below in the 'Transmission issues?' thread:

To which you received an answer from a knowledgeable member:

Why else would one consider ANY other tranny other than the AV6? Unless there is a significant price advantage for the JDM CL unit? I mean your mechanic should be able to locate one rather quickly in your location, then done.

best solution would of been the accord 3.0 transmission. I find them for around $500 at junk yards.

Which is the best years for the 3.0 Accord Trans? Also any gear ratio issues like with showing incorrect speed etc? I told my mechanic about using the Accord trans and he freaked out about the ratio being different possibly and that I may be driving 55 when the spedo says 65 or something similar to that. Any thoughts?

Go to the 2nd gen TL section and find the thread 06-07 AV6 swap and all your info is there. It's been done many times with success and I'm pretty sure there are no spedo differences.
