From 1st Gen to 2nd Gen (New Member)
Waddup everyone, I recently sold my first gen '97 CL and upgraded to an '03 CLS6 today. Wanted to stick with an Acura but the TL's and RSX's are too played out over here, while everything else is too expensive for a university student with a budget, so I decided to stick with the CL swag. Car is clean inside and out, 150,000 km, for $5000! I got a steal no doubt. Looking forward to being a member here!
P.S. I got a few minor questions. The factory radio doesn't work and says 'code'. Does this mean I have to contact Acura for the code? Also, there are a couple things missing from the center console (the fan button and the bottom trey behind the shifter). Rather then seeking these from a dealership I found an '03 TL part out in my area and was wondering if I could steal those two things off the TL and if it would be the same fit?
Thanks in advance. Much appreciated.

Not so sure about the radio, same thing happened to me but it was getting serviced at my local Acura dealership so they fixed it for me. The Tl dash buttons should fit perfect though

nice deal! Has the timing belt service been done? If you disconnect the battery, you'll need the radio code to make it work again. A dealership just gave it to me once, and it could be written somewhere in the glove box?
You could cross reference part numbers on www.oemacuraparts.com
The 99-03 TL have many similar parts.

Welcome a board!!! Nice pick up!! There is serial # back of the head unit. I think 8 digit. You just give those # to dealer. Thay'll give you radio code. Actually, you don't have to remove head unit. do this
1. key on
2.turn off radio
3.key off
4.key on again
5.push 1 and 6 together(cd changer button). don't release. just keep pushing them.
6.turn on radio while you are pushing those 1 and 6 button
Then display will show you serial #. I think it was 8 digits. not sure though. If i remember, it will show you p #### and blink and p #### . Don't worry about that p. just give them #s and they will give you code.

@anthracitecl: respect for the code man!
Here's my CLS6:
This is my center console, notice the two missing pieces. Hopefully can be taken from a TL.
Still getting used to the clutch on this thing. I don't know if it's just me, but the clutch on this is a lot different, my 1st gen CL the clutch came out soft and steady, this one just kinda pops out hard halfway it's tough to control sometimes.

Ya i saw this one online somewhere when it was for sale. They must have replaced the parts with 01-02 CL parts. 6speeds have no fogs (just black inserts), colour matched grille and no chrome in the headlights.
Oh and you can still get a ticket for no front plate....windshield doesn't cut it in Ontario.

Thanks a lot for the heads up guys, you guys know your shit. It was indeed in a front-end accident, but it only got as far the radiator. Everything under the hood is clean. I guess I'll have to get my grill painted black. Could someone point me in the direction of part #'s for those black bumper inserts? Would be much appreciated.

personally, i like the road lamps. i have a set that need to go on as soon as i replace my bumper.
if you do want to replace the front end with the 03 parts, keep an eye out in the BM (Black Market). There are always part outs that you can buy from. Good luck and hopping modding.

it might be easier to look for a wrecked 03 CL and grab what you need. 03's also don't have any chrome in the headlights. But if you don't mind the stuff then who cares.
look at www.oemacuraparts.com for the things you need. They have great prices i've found.
71103-S3M-A00 GARNISH, R. FR. BUMPER $33.45
71108-S3M-A00 GARNISH, L. FR. BUMPER $29.26

Thanks for the part numbers guys!
@gnuts: You from Toronto too?
Regarding the whole radio code thing. I called my local dealership, and they said they couldn't give it over the phone, I'd have to go in and they charge $120 for it since the car was not originally purchased from there. LOLZ GTFO! So I found this sick site online called radio-code.com. You fill in the information and they conveniently e-mail you the code within an hour or two, for only $20! I highly recommend this site for anyone that has this problem in the future. So glad to have my radio working because I really didn't have $500+ at the moment for an aftermarket deck.
