01 CL-P HID head light ballast dead
 

My passenger side low beam bulb (H.I.D.) , blew about a week ago and I thought well since the ballast was also over 10 years old it should be replace. I went on ebay trying to locate a ballast for 01 CL-P, came across a posting for a acura CL/TL ballast. So, I said great this works since trying to find some oem replacement parts for the CL can be a pain. Once the part arrived I quick sprung into action, removing the front bumper and the dissfuser under the hood. I came to the realization that the ballast wasn't even close to being the same. I same made the ballast from ebay work till I can Install my canbus hid replacement kit. the bulb was also blown out, thank God I have saved the OEM ones when I changed the bulbs first purchasing the car.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...7728295e4d.jpg

This is the 2G TL Ballast, notice how small and slim it is.

This is the OEM ballast, notice how bulky it is and the size of the circular seal is also.
I just wanted to point this out to anyone who may run into this issue in the future, please note and buy a can-bus AC 55watt HID conversion kit. Playing back-yard salvage make it mechanics was not fun too.

If you're going to replace the ballast with aftermarket, of course its going to be different. Aftermarket kits are more universal.
